Gtrot and a Vision for Local Discovery
After launching just two years ago, Gtrot, a Chicago-based social travel tool, attracted venture capital funding from Lightbank, the famed venture firm that also backed Groupon.
But Gtrot's co-founder Zach Smith soon realized that users weren't applying the site as he intended. They were using it to explore where they lived, not where they were going on vacation.
So Gtrot did a 180 on its vision -- changing it from a social travel tool to a social discovery tool. We sat down with Smith to discuss how he's managed to keep his investors and his employees on board with his company's changing vision.
