Failure is a bitch. As an entrepreneur, the last thing you want to do is build up your company, make your dream become a reality and then see it come crashing down around you.

Bar Rescue host and service-industry authority Jon Taffer has seen his share of bar and restaurant owners fail. One commonality among all of them, Taffer says, is excuses. Whether it's the economy or politics -- or even the weather -- failing business owners often attribute their problems to outside factors.

If you ask Taffer, making excuses will only doom your company further. "Every excuse is bull," Taffer says. As the owner, you need to own your failures and make adjustments before it's too late.

"The only chance I have of making [business owners on Bar Rescue] successful is by making them accountable," he says.
