This EX35 as tested is only $3,295 less expensive than our long-term Acura MDX. Just another example of how fast a price tag leaps when you add in all the high-tech gizmos that luxury-car shoppers are sure to be enticed by.
Speaking of gizmos, the around-view monitor is a spiffy feature. When the EX is shifted into reverse, the center screen shows an image of the area around the entire car. Now, some owners might depend solely on it and refuse to turn their heads--which could prove to be bad, considering the system won't show an approaching car when backing out of a parking spot. It is really good, however, for avoiding hazards such as garbage cans, or for parallel parking.

As for the styling, we found it polarizing, with roughly equal numbers loving it and being repulsed by it. Everyone, however, found the interior extremely pleasant. It features high-quality materials and superbly comfortable seats.
Driving the EX reveals its best traits. It handles with aplomb, carving freeway ramps nicely for a small SUV while always exhibiting a stable ride. There is power to spare from the V6, which is teamed with a transmission that offers quick downshifts for passing.
This easily sits at the top of the small-luxury-SUV heap.
