Health Care 2.0 is Here

Consider it a one-stop shop for all your health concerns. It's Revolution Health, a new website launched today offering health and medical information to the masses. The site is the result of Steve Case, former CEO of America Online, brainstorming ways to improve the U.S. health-care system. "I believe health care in this country is screwed up," Case said during a webcast. "People generally don't trust it. I felt that as an entrepreneur, the best way I could make a contribution was to build a company, like AOL was, that can be a change agent to force the system to change."

Revolution Health integrates a mix of Web 2.0 elements, including social networking and personalization, into the comprehensive website. For example, consumers can go to the site for free and create their own personalized health page. Users can also interact with other consumers online by sharing information on medicines and healthcare experiences. Expert advice is also available, should users have concerns about prescriptions or symptoms they're experiencing. Other interactive features of the site include CarePages, an online community helping families communicate when a loved one is receiving care.

The site could be especially beneficial to entrepreneurs on-the-go, since all medical records, and those of family members, can be kept on the site indefinitely.--Kristin Edelhauser
