School Says - General Information
Success in the job market is the hallmark of the W. P. Carey MBA Ââ€" Full-time Program at Arizona State University (ASU). Our placement rate after graduation places us among the top ten MBA programs in North America. Consider the Full-time Program if you seek to build broad business skills in conjunction with a functional emphasis in one of many areas of specialization. Delivered over the course of 21 months, the case-based and team-oriented learning format integrates a core business curriculum with an in-depth specialization. Classes are small, with less than 50 students in core courses, allowing you to interact closely with your peers and faculty members. A required internship between the first and second years of the program, together with a career leadership course, set the stage for a successful post-graduate career. Our student-services and career management teams provide you with the personalized service and individual attention you need to achieve academic success, while also focusing on your future.

School Says - Student Body
W. P. Carey MBA Full-time Program students hail from diverse backgrounds. The average student in the fall 2007 entering class was 27 years old, with 4.5 years of professional work experience. The class included 35 percent international students and 10 percent total ethnic minority enrollment. Our 2007 incoming class brought students from around the globe Ââ€" including Bangladesh, China, Costa Rica, France, India, Mexico, South Korea and other nations.

School Says - Academics
The W. P. Carey MBA builds and strengthens your knowledge, skills and managerial abilities through a rigorous curriculum, as you engage in technical and analytical skill-building exercises and case studies. During the first year, you will build fundamental knowledge in the disciplines of accounting, marketing, ethics, statistics and management. Integrated courses will teach you how business disciplines relate to one another, and how singular decisions affect company success across functions. In the second year, you will select courses from diverse focus areas that complement the foundational core courses. Your specialization choices include financial information and markets, information management, real estate, sports business, strategic marketing and services leadership, supply chain financial management, and supply chain management. Optional secondary specializations are available in health sector management, international business, and management. The small and cohesive class size provides for individual learning, close faculty interaction and an intense sense of community and commitment to personal and professional development.

School Says - Admissions
Admission to the W. P. Carey MBA is selective. Most students have three to five years of full-time work experience and have earned a bachelorÂ's degree or the equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. The W. P. Carey MBA Admissions Committee looks for well-rounded individuals with strong leadership skills and academic credentials, managerial experience or potential, and the ability to contribute to the diversity of the class. Transcripts, GMAT scores, TOEFL scores (for international students), work history, essay questions, letters of recommendation and a required interview all influence the admission decision. Qualifying domestic students will be invited for a personal interview through our campus visit program. Many scholarship opportunities are available annually to full-time applicants, based on the merit of individual applications. Early participation in the application process ensures consideration for the most lucrative financial awards. While applications are accepted on a Â"rolling admissions cycleÂ" basis, with applications accepted throughout the year, admission is to the fall term only.

School Says - Campus Life
The W. P. Carey School of Business is housed in two buildings that contain an auditorium, lecture halls, seminar rooms, a graduate suite and a coffeehouse. The business complex is equipped with wireless access ports within its buildings and patio area. The graduate suite offers a student center, technology-equipped team rooms and open study areas.

Students Say - Academics
Students at Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business say their school is "by far, the best b-school in the Southwest," boasting a range of progressive MBA programs, a strong foothold in the Phoenix business community, and a practical but fun approach to business education. A rising star in the business world, "The school is constantly striving to be recognized as one of the top business schools in the country by recruiting top faculty and remaining selective with student admission." As one student observes, "Each year we are getting more and more professors from distinguished b-schools. For the most part, the faculty is outstanding, and as you get into your specialization courses, they become recognized leaders in their fields."
Academically, the school emphasizes case-based and team-oriented learning, maintaining a "good mix of lecture, cases, and project work in classes." ASU professors bring "current practical research, knowledge, and excellent teaching skills into the classroom." A current student attests, "I have taken away a tremendous amount of applicable information (both theoretical and practical) which I am able to apply to my job."
ASU offers a number of MBA options, including full-time and part-time programs, an online program, and an executive MBA program. While the school is traditionally recognized for its excellence in Supply Chain Management, students reassure us that there is a "good variety of courses from all disciplines" at ASU, including many "creative offerings to meet emerging market trends." With a lock step core program in the first year, ASU is characterized by "challenging course work with very high expectations from students." This intensity is balanced by a lively and fun academic environment, thanks to professors who are "professional and intelligent, but still know how to relate to students and bring humor into classes."
You won't have to worry about red tape and registration headaches at ASU. Unlike many public schools, "ASU's administration team takes many tasks off of the student's plate. They register students for classes, pick up their books and parking passes, and are easily accessible." The popular Dean Keim also draws his share of praises. A student relates, "We have brought in a relatively new dean who has created a culture of excellence and, to be honest, an environment of academic rigor beyond what I expected." An ideal learning environment, the "program is hosted in a high-tech facility, so it gives it a nice progressive feel. We're surrounded by clean rooms and technology labs."

Students Say - Admissions
Admissions vary for the full-time; executive; and technology, science, and engineering programs. Applicants to all programs must submit a completed application form, undergraduate transcripts, and official GMAT scores. Full-time entering students have an average GMAT score of 676 and an average undergraduate GPA of 3.43. The school admits students who demonstrate a combination of strong academic credentials, leadership potential, work experience, and strong communication skills.

Students Say - Campus Life
Students at ASU are as warm and sunny as the desert itself. As one student explains, "Whether it be helping with homework, assisting with interview preparation, or just going out on a Thursday night, you know that somebody will be there for you." While the class size is growing annually, the ASU business program is still fairly community oriented. "On any given night off you will find many of us hanging out together socializing; we are an extremely close-knit community," says a current student. Part-timers admit that "being enrolled in a part-time program leads to little time for an active social life"; even so, these students "still make time for one another."
On campus, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the school community. When students need to burn off some stress they head to the intramural fields which are "filled every evening with soccer games, softball games-you name it." On top of that, "There is always something new and interesting happening, including study groups for classes, social events like skydiving and happy hours, networking events with alumni," and "opportunities to hear outstanding speakers (such as the Dutch ambassador to the U.S.)." Aside from school events, hometown Phoenix provides plenty of social and recreational opportunities, and "The weather and beautiful campus make getting up in the morning a lot easier."

Students Say - Careers
Students say "the Career Management Center is phenomenal, helping all students with every aspect of finding both an internship and a full-time position upon graduation." Working with the school's extensive alumni network and strong connections in the local business community, "The people in the Career Management Center sincerely want you to succeed, and they will do anything to get you the job/internship that you want." Thanks to the "economic growth being experienced in Phoenix and the Southwest in general," as well as the school's great regional reputation, it's easy for students to land a plum position in Phoenix. "For supply-chain management students [in particular], the Career Management Center is superb. Recruiters are here nonstop throughout the year looking for both interns and full-time hires. From day one, it is made clear that it is the school's goal to get you a quality job." While Supply Chain students may receive the undivided attention of many recruiters, ASU students do well on the whole. About 92 percent of last year's graduating class was employed within 3 months of graduation.
