School Says - Campus Life
The Auburn College of Business is housed in the state-of-the-art Lowder Business Building which offers wireless technologies; dedicated computer labs; video classrooms; and instructional areas optimized for student-instructor interactions with enhanced learning environments.

Students Say - Academics
Whether you're seeking a traditional on-campus MBA experience or the opportunity to earn your graduate degree from the comfort of your own home, Auburn University can accommodate you. The school offers three curriculum models: an on-campus MBA; the Graduate Outreach Program, which allows students to fulfill most of the obligations toward their degrees remotely (students must attend one five-day case analysis during their final fall semester, but otherwise never need to visit campus); and two Executive MBA programs (one a general EMBA, the other geared specifically to the needs of physicians), which require five one-week residencies over a two-year period, with the larger portion of instruction coming via Internet and DVD technologies. The distance program offers concentrations in finance, management information systems, technology management, marketing, and operations management. The full-time program offers all of these plus concentrations in agribusiness, economic development, economics, healthcare administration, human resources management, sports management, and supply chain management. The EMBA offers specialization in technology management and healthcare management.
Students in the on-campus program praise "the great sense of community" here, with "plenty of team building and leadership education. The "very team-based" approach to learning means "you will walk away with the ability to work effectively with anyone," especially "given the diversity of the classes in terms of ethnicity and academic background." Among the many academic disciplines covered here, students say that supply chain management, finance, and economics are standouts. Auburn professors "are really helpful" and "very approachable," but many feel that "some could foster more innovative teaching approaches." Administrators earn high marks for "knowing every random question about the program you can think up." As one MBA observes, "With such a small MBA class, the administration can provide plenty of attention."

Students Say - Admissions
All applicants to the Auburn MBA program must submit official transcripts for all post-secondary academic work, an official GMAT score report, three letters of recommendation, a completed application to the Graduate School, and a completed application to the MBA program. Work experience and a personal interview are both encouraged, but neither is required. International students whose first language is not English must also submit TOEFL scores (minimum scores: 550 paper-and-pencil; 213 computer-based; 79 internet-based). Undergraduate-level competency in accounting, calculus, finance, macro- and microeconomics, management, marketing, and statistics are all prerequisites to starting the Auburn MBA program. Students lacking appropriate undergraduate credentials may purchase the corresponding courses on CD and must subsequently pass a competency exam in each course (administered by the university, by CLEP, or, for military candidates, through the DANTES system) prior to commencing work on the MBA. In an effort to boost the population of under represented students, Auburn makes recruiting trips to minority campuses.

Students Say - Campus Life
Auburn's MBA program draws "a great group from across the US and across the globe" with "a strong presence of diverse nationalities, including students from China, Thailand, India, Mali, Curacao, Guam, and Belgium." Some complain that too many students, both American and international, lack sufficient work experience, "which lessens their contributions in class," but they are otherwise satisfied with their peers. One tells us that "The Auburn MBA program has done a wonderful job at promoting cohesion among students. We feel like a family and are there to pull each other through. No matter what your views and characteristics are, you are accepted with an open mind."
Football occupies center stage in the life of the Auburn campus. "The football team brings about being part of something bigger than yourself," one student explains, while another simply observes that "The tailgating is the best." The surrounding town, though small, "is great for being social. Between the football games and the bars, we hang out a lot as an entire class. If anything, the social life sometimes gets in the way of school life because it's hard to turn down such a fun time." It's all business during the daytime, however, when most full-timers "come up to the student lounge in the business building to either do work or to socialize. It is a healthy environment that encourages fellowship." Part-timers are, of course, less engaged in campus life.

Students Say - Careers
Auburn's Office of Student/Business Partnerships handles career counseling and recruitment services for MBAs. The office provides one-on-one counseling, seminars, workshops, and a career library; it also organizes career expos and on-campus recruiting events. Students see room for improvement, telling us the office "needs to actively create better business fairs and get names out to more companies... While it is good for many people if they want to stay local, it's hard to get your name out to specific companies and certainly ones that are out of the South" under current conditions.
Employers most likely to hire Auburn MBAs include AmSouth Bank, Colonial Bank, Home Depot, Total Systems, and Wal-Mart; the school also maintains "working relationships" with such employers as Dell, Eli Lilly, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Rocky Mountain Clothing Company, and Trans Meridian Airlines. One in five graduates winds up in finance and accounting; operations and production, consulting, and MIS each claim about 17 percent of the graduating class.
