The University of Tampa is a private, medium-sized, comprehensive university in the heart of Tampa. The university offers exciting learning experiences in over 100 fields of study. All programs offer students a combination of challenging coursework and real world experience. Situated on a beautiful 100 acre campus, the university is adjacent to the Hillsborough River and downtown Tampa. Students enjoy a traditional self-contained campus, only steps away from the excitement and opportunities of the bustling city. At the center of campus lies Plant Hall, once a luxurious hotel for the rich and famous. This historical landmark is complemented by modern surroundings and excellent facilities including a student union, art studios and gallery, theatres, computer resource center, complete athletic facilities, science labs, and new residence halls. Over 5,600 students (4,500 full-time undergraduates) are enrolled at the university. UT students represent 50 states and over 100 countries. Students choose from more than 120 different clubs and organizations including honors societies, social clubs, Greek Life, community service and others. The University of Tampa has one of the top NCAA Division II sports programs in the nation, winning twelve national championships including recent championships in Baseball (2006 & 2007), WomenÂ's Volleyball (2006), and WomenÂ's Soccer (2007).

The University of TampaÂ's undergraduate curriculum is designed to give students a broad academic and cultural background as well as a concentrated study in a major. Students complete a comprehensive core curriculum known as the Baccalaureate Experience, which is highlighted by the unique and innovative first year program known as Gateways. Gateways is an extensive orientation program which encourages student development via exploration of global issues, career possibilities, and development of critical thinking and communication skills. International experience has always been a major focus at the University of Tampa. Students are essentially educated and prepared to live and work internationally. Academic opportunities in this area are available to students immediately and in 2008 there are 20 faculty led study abroad opportunities available to students. For qualifying students, the university has a rigorous and rewarding Honors Program of expanded instruction and student research.
