Students Say - Academics
Students choose Bryant University's MBA program for the school's "reputation of being a top business school in the area" and for its "amazing facilities." In January 2006, the school gave students another reason to select Bryant: a revamped program that allows part-time students to enjoy the same benefits of cohort learning that full-time students enjoy. Under this system, part-time students are grouped in cohorts of 30 to 35 with whom they move through the program (which they typically complete in 2 years). Each student is also assigned to a study team for the length of the program. Teams are constructed by administrators to provide the widest possible range of life and career experiences to the study group.
The MBA at Bryant consists of two preparatory courses in economics and statistics; eight core in accounting, computer information systems, finance, management, marketing, and operations; and four electives offered in a wide range of disciplines. Academics here keep a steady pace. Students praise the program's "very educational methods of teaching: case study, group learning, and projects" and tell us that they do "plenty of presentations to prepare us for the business world." Even more importantly, the program focuses on "practical applications of theories and concepts." Students also enjoy the extent of the curriculum, describing it as "very oriented toward the overall business world. I have friends attending other business schools, and they are not getting the breadth of information that we are getting."In addition to their 2-year program, Bryant now offers a one-year MBA. This accelerated MBA is designed for students who have recently completed undergraduate study. No previous professional work experience is necessary. The one-year MBA offers two distinct experiences: (1) an intensive course in which students build lifelong career skills and (2) a semester long experiential course that allows students to engage in a team-based consulting project with one of Bryant's corporate partners.
Bryant faculty typically "have been in the actual workforce and have an understanding of how the ideas that they are teaching apply to the real world," yet don't lack for academic credentials. "Many of the relevant writings were written by our professors," points out one student. Students find the faculty "dedicated and passionate as a whole."

Students Say - Admissions
Applicants to graduate programs at Bryant University must provide the Admissions Department with the following materials: a completed application form; a personal statement of objectives (no less than 500 words long); a current resume; one letter of recommendation from a professional who can evaluate your skills and potential; official transcripts for all previous undergraduate and graduate work (regardless of whether it resulted in a degree); and an official GMAT score report. In addition to the above, international students must also provide a statement of finances, professional translation and interpretation of any foreign language transcripts, and, for those whose first language is not English and who did not earn an undergraduate degree from an English-speaking institution, an official TOEFL score report.

Students Say - Campus Life
Bryant University is a "tight-knit, small school" where "people genuinely care about the community and each other." Explains one part time student in the MBA program, "I wasn't expecting to become as connected to Bryant as I was to my undergraduate university. They have made me feel like part of the community very well here." Students praise the "attractive" campus for both its beauty ("There is a fountain and a bridge in the middle of campus.") and its convenience. One student reports, "Parking is convenient and close to the classrooms. All of the classes are in one building, which reduces walking from building to building in inclement weather. The library is huge and offers unparalleled resources."
While "The Graduate Student Council is very active in getting graduate participation at all school sporting events," this is still largely a program of overcommitted part-time students, people managing not only an academic career but also full-time jobs and, often, family obligations. While students enjoy a strong esprit de corps-one reinforced by the school's recent switchover to cohort-based learning-they do not have much time to bond outside their classrooms and study groups.
Bryant is located just outside the city of Providence. The location provides access not only to Rhode Island's biggest city but also to Boston, just an hour's drive to the north. The city of Providence offers a wide selection of great dining and entertainment options; it is also one of the nation's leaders in jewelry design and manufacturing. Major employers include the Bank of America, Verizon, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Bryant MBAs "have diverse backgrounds. There is a wide dispersion of ages and social status. There are students who are married with children, newlyweds, single, and just out of undergrad. The wide diversity of experience and lifestyles has made the program interesting." The cohort system means that "moving through the program with the same group enables you to make lasting friendships with your colleagues."

Students Say - Careers
The Amica Center for Career Education serves the undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni of Bryant University. The office provides counseling services, assessment instruments, and workshops on resume writing, interviewing, and job-search skills. The center maintains a career services library and facilitates contact with alumni through the school's Alumni Career Network. Students wish that the school would "improve in the number and diversity of on-campus recruiting companies, for example, companies based outside of Rhode Island."
