Students Say - Academics
Loyola's Sellinger School of Business and Management offers the aspiring MBA a distinct, challenging, and flexible program. With evening classes held on both the Timonium and Columbia campuses, full-time working professionals can really take advantage of the self-paced curriculum. The average time to degree completion is less than three years, with some qualified and dedicated students finishing within twelve to fifteen months. Candidates whose undergraduate coursework involved business may be eligible for course waivers. Available concentrations include accounting, finance, information systems, international business, management and marketing. Loyola manages to attract "extremely accessible" professors who know how to provide "practical knowledge to complement the academic theories of business." They cultivate a "very supportive environment" and "continuously seek student and outside feedback to [ensure] courses are relevant to today's business environment." Importantly, the "majority of professors are at the top of their fields" and have "an extensive background in real-world business." Many employ teaching methods that encourage students to "think in a different way rather than regurgitate information." Though students are quick to heap praise on their instructors, their enthusiasm is tempered by one qualifier. While the tenured faculty is continually described as "top-notch," some do warn that the adjunct faculty is "barely prepared." Student opinion is decidedly mixed when it comes to Loyola's administration. As one disgruntled respondent shared, "The financial offices make more mistakes than a fourth grader with a calculator." Conversely, others assert that they are "very concerned about the well-being of their students" noting that "[administrators] make themselves readily available to students by having extended office hours and [by] being located at all satellite campuses." And an impressed second-year candidate shared, "The dean even called to inform that I will need to take two specific courses in order to graduate."

A complete application to the Loyola College MBA program includes: a completed application Form; a personal statement; a resume; an official GMAT score report; official transcripts for all degree work and for any postsecondary academic work completed within five years of application; as well as international documents, where appropriate. Applicants with a 3.25 undergraduate GPA and five years of work experience may waive the GMAT requirement, as may students with an advanced degree in any other discipline (e.g., an MA, a PhD, a JD, etc.). Interviews and letters of recommendation are optional.

Students Say - Campus Life
Loyola's MBA program is offered on a part-time basis only, a factor that does impact student life. Indeed, the population is comprised primarily of "professionals" who maintain "busy personal and work schedules." Due to time constraints "there is limited interaction with other students outside of the classroom and study groups." However, one eager respondent did note that students do sometimes "go out for drinks after class." Despite a scarcity of social opportunities, Loyola's MBA candidates speak highly of one another. They are quick to define their peers as "highly-motivated," "friendly" and "career-driven." And while "fellow students are competitive," they also prove themselves to be "amazing team players" who are "very supportive of each other and…create an atmosphere where everyone is committed to coming to class each week with a desire to learn as much as we can from each other." As one respondent sums up, "Doing well and receiving good grades are important to Loyola students." Importantly, the school attracts a healthy "mix of new graduates and working adults with broad backgrounds and an extremely diverse experience baseâ€"from government [and] non-profit to commercial and private sector." Certainly this diversity within the student body enhances the learning experience by allowing "for different perspectives to be heard." And ultimately, all of this works to create an "environment very conducive not only to learning but making friends and connections too." The Career Center grants access to a number of online resources and connects students with a handful of job fairs throughout the Baltimore area. Impressively, MBA candidates are privy to a network of approximately 1000 Loyola alumni.
