Best Business Schools (Southeast)
Students Say - Academics"Set in a picturesque landscape," Rollins not only enjoys "a fantastic reputation" as the number one business school in the state of Florida, but it also "offers its students exceptional international business opportunities and experiences, in addition to a world-class faculty." With a "high level of post-graduate job placement and [a] great reputation," students say "The education and networking opportunities [at Rollins] cannot be matched for a young, ambitious future business leader." One of Rollins greatest strengths is its diversity. The business school offers four separate programsâ" Early Advantage, Professional, Saturday, and Key Executiveâ"catering to the needs of everyone from eager students fresh out of their undergraduate experiences, to working professionals looking to pursue an advanced degree in their field. Many of the younger students laud the "specially-designed" Early Advantage (EMBA) program, which "caters to those who have not had work experience prior to entering business school. It provides them opportunities to build up their experience through study trips, consultation projects, and internships." Says one, it's "a great fit for someone on the younger side. It's almost like an extension of undergrad. All the kids are about your age." In addition to its EAMBA program, the school offers three part-time programs: the Professional MBA, open to anyone currently employed full-time; the Saturday MBA, designed for mid-to-senior-level professionals (minimum five years work experience required); and the Key Executive MBA. As one Saturday MBA students attests, " I wanted a âtraditional' classroom and learning experience but with the flexibility to meet my fulltime work needs. I'm going to classes all day every Saturday and will graduate in only 19 months!" Students are drawn to Rollins for its "prestige, quality of education, smaller class size, [and] experience of faculty." Many say the "small classroom settings create an intimate learning environment that promotes participation from all students, as well as interaction from each professor." The faculty at Rollins is "top notch." Professors "all hold the highest degree in their respective fields and all were successful in the world of business prior to entering the teaching ranks." Overall, the academic experience is "top-flight as long as you are willing to sit through some classes in the first term that will feel remedial to some business majors." Course work is "very challenging, but manageable," and the school's administration and faculty "does everything possible to prepare students for their future. Whether it is providing mentors, leadership coaching, or career development, students are given the personal attention and support they need to be successful."
Students Say - Admissions
Applicants to Crummer's EAMBA program must provide the school with the following: official transcripts for all undergraduate, graduate, and professional school work; an official GMAT score report; statement of purpose; two 'confidential evaluations' (letters of recommendation); and a resume. Interviews are conducted at the school's invitation only. Applicants to the executive MBA program must meet all of the above requirements in addition to a required interview, and they must also submit proof of their employer's support for their participation. PMBA and SMBA applicants must interview as part of the application process as well.
Students Say - Campus Life
Students at Rollins aren't shy about singing the praises of their gorgeous environment: "Campus is beautiful and Rollins' reputation lives up to its name." The campus boasts "a large amount of resources available for all students. Graduate students have full access to plays, music performances, athletic facilities, volunteer opportunities, etc." Facilities are nothing to shake a stick at either. Students "attend class in one centralized building where there are plenty of study roomsâ¦.Each study room is equipped with a flat-screen TV to hook up to a computer that assists groups in facilitating discussion." Overall students describe themselves as "ambitious, energetic, supportive, and intellectual." Most are "well-informed in respect to current events and openly share their views and opinions, which adds to the in-class conversations." The atmosphere at school "isn't too competitive; instead, everyone is open to helping out others if they need it." Given the program's focus on early learning and continuing education, across the board students are "active learners" who are "very professional and driven towards having a balance in their personal life and work." With only "forty people in the class" students "become very close within the first semester. We socialize a lot and meet every Wednesday after class. We also do outside classroom activities [on] the weekends." Because of the program's nature, "Students come from diverse backgrounds. It's not unusual to be paired in a group with an engineer, an accountant, a marketing professional, an entrepreneur, and a liberal arts major. The diversity creates valuable classroom discussions and inspires students to see things from many different points of view." Life in hometown Winter Park "is phenomenal. There is a small-town atmosphere, but you never forget that you are surrounded by some of the biggest business names in the state." Winter Park "is close enough to Orlando for all of the excitement but far enough away to avoid the traffic and population density."
Students Say - Careers
Rollins boasts an "active and engaged alumni base," and connections to "some of the biggest companies in the country (Disney, Lockheed, Darden)" that all add up to a "high level of post-graduate job placement." In 2009, more than 88 percent of full-time MBA students seeking employment secured positions within three months of graduation with a mean base salary of $60,000. Top employers of Crummer MBAs include: The Walt Disney Company, Radiant, CNL Group, FedEx, Harris Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Marriot International, Darden restaurant Group, AT&T, Siemens Westing House, CIA, Dynetech, Citigroup, Universal Studios, General Mills,. Tupperware, and SunTrust Bank. Though 86 percent of students who procured employment within three months of graduation landed jobs in the South, students say Rollins enjoys a strong alumni network and a cache of prestige both regionally and nationally.
