Students Say - Academics
"""The greatest strength of Morningside College is its size,"" students at this small liberal arts college in western Iowa tell us. ""Because we are not too big, this provides more opportunity for professors to interact on a more personal level with their students,"" allowing the school ""to ensure that each student gets personal attention and one-on-one instruction while they instill the benefits of being a lifelong learner."" Professors ""are really dedicated to their students when it comes to attendance, class participation, and success in the classroom,"" and ""while some of the introductory-course-level adjunct instructors are not great teachers, the tenured professors and those teaching upper-level classes are highly qualified and… are very good teachers."" ""Amazing academic programs"" and ""at least one required internship"" further augment the Morningside experience; the latter ""gives our students great connections with the business world for when they graduate."" Students tout the art, music, theater, psychology, and biology programs. As at many small schools, some facilities are underdeveloped. ""A research library would be nice,"" one student wistfully writes."

Students Say - Campus Life
"Morningside sports teams ""are amazing"" and are a great source of pride and entertainment on campus. ""From football to basketball, our teams have done great for years,"" students boast. Many are involved in at least one intercollegiate team; many others participate in intramurals. ""The Morningside Activities Council"" (MAC) "and student government keep things pretty lively"" on campus with ""concerts, stand-up comedians, Midnight Movies at the theaters, free hockey games, and much more."" Hometown Sioux City supplements the fun with ""a decent-sized mall, three movie theaters, a great event center (with concerts, hockey, etc), and a great selection of places to just hang out,"" according to some (others demur, telling us that ""There is not much to do in the town, so a lot of people just drink""). While some inform us that Morningside ""is kind of a party school, but only with alcohol…we do not have drug problems like bigger universities,"" others point out that MAC provides a number of popular nonalcoholic options."

Students Say - Student Body
"The typical Morningside undergrad ""is an athlete, or someone involved in an activity such as choir, who is very dedicated to schoolwork."" Writes one student, ""Everyone is involved in clubs and organizations"" here. Morningside is heavily invested in its athletic programs, though, meaning that there are at least some who ""are here for sports first, academics second."" Undergrads are ""most likely [to have come] from Iowa, Nebraska, or South Dakota and would have grown up in a smaller sized, blue-collar, Midwest town (big city kids are a minority)."""
