School Says - Student Body
Liberty currently has 20 NCAA Division I athletic teams: Baseball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Softball, Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country, Football, Men's Golf, MenÂ's Soccer, WomenÂ's Soccer, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, Men's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field, Women's Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field, Men's Wrestling, Women's Volleyball, Women's Lacrosse and Women's Swimming.



Campus SERVE is a student-led initiative on Liberty's campus to bring Christianity into the local community, through service. Students who participate in this program often visit nursing homes or sponsor activities for children in government subsidized housing projects.

LU's Student Activities Office (SAO) is the fire-starter for many on-campus social events. The SAO runs motocross events, a trail race series for runners, archery tournaments, flag football, paintball tournaments and more. This office also operates Liberty's intramural sports and LU's seven competitive club teams: Women's Hockey, Men's Hockey,Men's Lacrosse, Men's Volleyball and Women's Equestrian.

Other major campus social events include Christian concerts (past artists include Switchfoot, tobyMac, and the Newsboys), karaoke nights, video game tournaments and more.

School Says - Academics
The Liberty Honors Program offers Ivy League-sized classes to students who are interested in challenging themselves academically. Students are required to have a 3.5 GPA and 1270 SAT or 29 ACT to be admitted into this program. Call the Honors Program Office at (434) 592-3304 for more information.

The Study Abroad program offers students the opportunity to live and study in a culture different from the home campus, broadening and challenging their intellectual prospects in the midst of the global marketplace. The Office of International Student Services hosts an international studentorientation and other events to assist with international student's transition to America. Liberty currently enrolls more than 910 international students from 80 different countries.

The Center for Global Ministries provides students with cross-cultural mission experiences abroad and in the U.S. Short and long-term mission trips are available through this center. The Center for Global Ministries also puts on a missions conference at LU every semester.

The Student Advocate Office offers scholarship symposiums to students in search of additional financial aid.

Air Force and Army ROTC are both available at Liberty.

School Says - Admissions
To apply to Liberty University go to www.libertyu.com or call an Admissions Counselor at (800) 543-5317 (Mon.-Fri. 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. ET). All applicants are required to submit an admissions essay, official SAT I or ACT scores, high school and, if applicable, college transcripts. Some accepted students may be required to take College Learning Strategies 101 during their first semester at Liberty. This study skills course is designed to help high school students transition to a college academic workload.

Liberty University's 6,500-acre campus is situated in Central Virginia near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The campus is just off Virginia highways 460 and 29 in the city of Lynchburg, about 180 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. This historic and picturesque setting provides a natural playground for outdoor enthusiasts, with mountains, lakes, waterfalls and more within a short drive.

Liberty University has many scholarship opportunities available to students. The Liberty Champion, Pastor/Alumni Scholarship and New Student Book Dollars (for the campus bookstore) are three scholarships that many Liberty students receive. Scholarships can also be awarded for academic achievement, for students in the Honors Program and for athletes. Scholarship amounts vary throughout the year, so interested students should apply and confirm your enrollment early to obtain the highest amount of scholarships. Scholarships are secured after a student contributes his or her $250 confirmation deposit, which secures their place in LU's incoming class.

Many students also receive outside scholarships and grants, such as the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG). The VTAG is given to most college students from Virginia who are attending a private college or university in the commonwealth. The amount of this grant varies from year to year.
