Founded in 1920, the University of New Haven is a private, co-educational institution that offers a wide range of majors in a small, intimate college environment. UNH attracts students who are interested in a Liberal Arts education with an emphasis on career preparation through internships, co-operative education, research, community service, and more! With nearly 100 different programs of study for 3,700 students, UNH offers a personalized experience that focuses on "experiential learning" reflecting the belief that students learn best if they are actively engaged in real-world applications of what they learn.
School Says - Student Body
The Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) oversees all aspects of undergraduate life, organizing campus social and cultural activities, supporting the student-run radio station and student-produced publications, and overseeing the budget for all undergraduate organizations. There are more than 100 campus clubs and organizations, including chapters of several professional societies, religious groups, social clubs, student councils, cultural clubs, and national fraternities and sororities.
School Says - Admissions
UNH has an Early Action Admissions Policy; we begin to review applications on September 1st and continue until programs are filled. UNH offers three non-binding admission programs for fall admission. To be considered for certain programs applicants must follow the established timelines and important dates. Early Action I Applications are due by November 15, Early Action II Applications are due by January 15, Regular Decision Applications are due after January 15, and Spring Admission Applications are due no later than January 15.
Students may apply using our online application or paper copy, the Common Application or the Universal Application. To be considered for admission, candidates must complete the application form and submit it along with a nonrefundable $75 paper application fee or $25 online application. An application is considered complete once we receive the application, personal essay, transcript(s), standardized test scores (SAT I or ACT), and one letter of recommendation.

School Says - Campus Life
The University of New Haven is located in suburban West Haven, Connecticut. UNH is conveniently situated 75 miles from New York City and 135 miles from Boston. Only minutes away from the beautiful beaches along Long Island Sound, the university offers a shuttle to downtown New Haven and other local areas.
School Says - Cost Aid
Cost for the 2011-2012 Academic year is: Tuition - $30,250, Student Fees - $1,300, and Room & Board - $13,200.Students are automatically considered for merit-based academic scholarships by simply applying for admission to UNH. Students must complete their admission application by May 1 for the fall semester or by January 2 for the spring semester in order to be eligible for merit-based awards. Merit-based scholarships range from $4,000 to $20,000 per academic year for students who qualify.
To file for need-based aid the priority deadline for Financial Aid is March 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester. Students must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to be considered for need-based aid at UNH. For students who wish to receive a financial aid package earlier than March, the CSS Profile, https://profileonline.collegeboard.com is available to fill out beginning October 1. Please note that the CSS Profile is not required but recommended for students who would like to get a financial aid package earlier in the process.
