Students Say - Academics
""Baldwin-Wallace is about becoming a well-rounded and educated member of society in a comfortable," "rustic" environment. "Courses can be very challenging, and a lot is expected of the students." Fortunately, "professors are all knowledgeable in their area of expertise and are willing to help students outside of the classroom." "Some even give out their home/cell number just in case! They truly care about us as individuals, not just as their ‘job.'" Many students, however, report that they have had at least one professor that they "haven't cared for." "Classes are very intimate and group discussion is almost always used over lecturing." Lodging complaints or suggestions about the college is made painless by the fact that "it is very easy to get appointments with administrators." though students reserve particular praise for the school's president, Richard Durst. Undergraduates appreciate that he "resides on campus and gets involved in as many extracurriculars as his schedule allows for." He has been spotted at "numerous athletic events, performances, and organizational events." They also appreciate that both the president and "every single professor" has an "open door policy.""

Students Say - Campus Life
""Academics and social activities have the same weight at B-W." "Most students think about their classwork and what things they need to complete for school, but they also try to enjoy college life." Luckily, they have many outlets for fun. "Parties are common," though they do not dominate social life here "because you usually have to go off-campus" to find them. "They crack down pretty hard on drinking on campus." "For people of age there are several bars in the area that are good for hanging out and drinking. BW is right next to other Cleveland towns with other club scenes [and] bars." For those "who choose not to drink," there are plenty of options. "Every Thursday night there is an event [called Midnight Madness] that runs from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. that is sponsored by [a student activities board]. They put on events such as ‘The Price is Right,' ‘B-W Idol,' and midnight breakfast. The Campus Entertainment Productions brings in events every two weeks such as comedy club, a contortionist, Mardi Gras face painting and a steel drum band." During daylight hours, "There are so many clubs that a student could do a different activity every day of the week." Intramural sports are reportedly "very competitive." Students believe the school could stand to "update some of the older dorm rooms" and that "on-campus meals are expensive and do not taste great.""

Students Say - Student Body
"The typical Baldwin-Wallace College student is "very intelligent and serious about their studies." He or she "takes close to a full course load of academic credits and is involved in at least one or two extracurricular activities. He/she is friendly and gets along with most other people, even groups of people whom he/she does not necessarily relate to." And the typical students "can also, for the most part, balance their time between their studying and their socializing fairly well." "There is not a lot of ethnic diversity," but "the school is very accepting of students with special needs, different gender identity, and religious beliefs." "There is a large GLBT population" here."
