Major Frat and Sorority Scene
Students Say - Academics
Students agree Wofford is "an extremely challenging institution with a strong local and increasing national reputation." Undergrads are quick to heap praise on their professors stating they, "genuinely care about their students and...are willing to do everything it takes for each student to succeed." Perhaps even more importantly, Wofford profs "clearly love to teach," which "creates a fun and interesting academic environment." In turn, as one junior shares, this frequently fosters a "desire to continue learning about the course material." Additionally, professors encourage students to explore their own passions. However, slackers be warned, "You cannot come to Wofford, play around and still make an A. You need to work." Undergrads are also quite pleased with the folks who keep the college running smoothly. Indeed, administrators "are very nice and [always] willing to hear student opinion." And one sophomore boasts that "deans go out of their way to assist the students." The highly visible administration can often be seen "eating lunch on the Quad, at football games and other athletic events, and [at] various academic and extracurricular functions on campus." Perhaps Wofford can be summed up best by this junior who simply states it's "an educational dream."

Students Say - Campus Life
Students at Wofford are academically oriented and tend to put "their education first." That means weekdays are generally reserved for classes and studying. However, when Friday rolls around, these Terriers are ready to let loose. "Avery high Greek population" typically means many students will flock to "fraternity row" on the weekends. Luckily, "all students are welcome" regardless of affiliation. Fortunately, "the student activities council ensures that plenty of non-Greek events are planned each semester also." Activities can range from "movies" and "paintball and ice skating" to "the occasional hot air balloon ride or bull riding." Additionally, with rampant school spirit, it's not surprising "football games...are very popular." Indeed, these "games are a big event where girls wear dresses and guys wear a coats, ties, and croakies." With all these options, it's no surprise an excited freshman shares, "There are so many activities on campus that you don't want to leave!" However, when undergrads do want to venture off campus, hometown "Spartanburg always has festivals and community gatherings, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from." Students looking for additional adventure can easily escape to Greenville, a city about 30 minutes away, or the always entertaining Asheville, which is roughly an hour trip by car.

Students Say - Student Body
Easily characterized with their "polo and pearls," Wofford undergrads admit the typical student is "Southern, Protestant, rich" and heavily "involved in Greek life." However, fret not if you don't find any of those adjectives applicable. A junior assures us "everyone interacts together, and there are no exclusive groups on campus." Indeed, most people are "friendly...and outgoing," and even atypical students will find it "easy to fit in...and get involved." Regardless of background, Wofford undergrads are an intellectual and curious lot. By and large, they tend to be academically "driven...and hard-working" and "motivated to do well" both in and out of the classroom. A few students bemoan the fact that Wofford seems to lack diversity, citing that most of their peers are "Caucasian" and "conservative." While others concede to this fact, they are quick to highlight this is slowly changing. As one experienced senior shares, "Despite the largely homogenous campus, diversity is growing rapidly." And this sentiment is echoed by a hopeful sophomore who confidently states, "Each year the number of students who defy this 'Wofford stereotype' is rising."
