School Says - General Information
King's is a liberal arts Catholic college that offers growth and personal development in a supportive environment. Small classes and labs allow for meaningful interaction with professors. Our average class size is 18 students, average lab size is 13 students, and the student/faculty ratio is 13:1. With our 40 clubs and activities and 19 NCAA Division III athletic programs for men and women there is plenty to do outside the classroom.

General Guidelines
While each application for admission is reviewed individually, here are some general guidelines:

The most important criteria in the admission decision are a student's four-year academic record, GPA, strength of curriculum and overall rank in class. Recommendations, the personal statement, co-curricular activities, leadership and community service help to complete your profile. March 1 is the preferred application deadline for first-year students. Applications may be submitted after September 1 and are reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Decisions are released in mid-October. Once we have received your application materials, we will notify you with a decision in two to three weeks. Students choosing the standardized test option are required to notify the Office of Admission on the application. A students' decision is non-reversible and must be made prior to application review.

School Says - Campus Life
King's College is ideally situated in northeastern Pennsylvania within driving distance to New York and Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and East Coast attractions. Our campus is close to the Pocono Mountains, offering skiing, snowboarding, kayaking and biking trails. The local area features Triple A baseball, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins ice hockey team and several venues for concerts.

Our atmosphere is friendly and inviting, with a strong sense of community. Our campus is walkable and accessible, yet you will find impressive facilities, equal to those at much larger institutions. Classes average 18 students allowing for personal interaction with professors, which translates into better graduation rates than at institutions with larger classroom environments.

School Says - Cost Aid
When determining the cost of a college education, one should also take into consideration the value. U.S.News & World Report has ranked King's among America's best colleges for 16 straight years and Barrons consistently considers us one of the best buys in college education.

Students Say - Academics
King's College is a small Catholic liberal arts school in northeastern Pennsylvania. There are 35 majors and ten pre-professional programs. "The business school and the education program are both great strengths." The five-year physician assistant program is "fantastic" as well. The administration is "unorganized" but "very accessible." The president "lives in a dorm hall," for example. "Small class sizes" are reportedly a plus. Professors get to "know you on a personal level." While a few faculty members "couldn't teach a first-grade class," most of them are "200 percent passionate" and "committed to helping you understand the things they teach." They "genuinely care about your life" and are "always willing to help." "I've had an amazing academic experience," gushes a business major. The Office of Career Planning is another "great asset." Internship opportunities abound, and some "99 percent" of all King's newly minted alumni find jobs within six months of graduation. The limited course selection is the big academic complaint here. "Many of the classes offered, particularly in the sciences, are only offered once every other year," laments a biology major.

Students Say - Campus Life
The atmosphere at King's is "very friendly and inviting." "You can walk across campus, and half of the people you pass are either acquaintances or friends," observes a senior. "It's rare to see anyone sitting alone at lunch." "There are your typical cliques," and "everyone sort of has their own little group." "Extracurricular activities are very popular, and almost everyone is involved in at least one." "King's students are highly involved with community service activities," notes a sophomore. Many play an intercollegiate sport, too. Some students grumble that King's "could have more activities and things to do around campus." Others tell us the school is "always sponsoring some kind of event." There are "great trips at cheap prices" to New York City and the ski mountains nearby. There is "daily Mass," of course. Also, "there are always impromptu soccer and Frisbee games on campus, plus snowball fights." "The bars around campus are very popular," and "partying is a common occurrence," but events are usually "low key." The surrounding town of Wilkes-Barre "has a lot" to offer, but there's not much "within walking distance." The campus is "near a bad part of town" that is "usually not extremely welcoming."

Students Say - Student Body
King's College is "decidedly non-diverse," especially ethnically. Most students hail from "Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York." "There are a lot of commuter students" from the local area. There's a solid contingent of nontraditional students, too. You'll see some "hicks" and some "students from wealthy families" but the crowd here is "mostly middle class." Virtually everyone gets at least some financial aid. Students are "generally Catholic" and largely "career oriented." They describe themselves as "very friendly" "and easy to talk to." "Academically, about half are the overachiever-go getter type," says a senior, "and the [rest] are your average hang-out-and-maybe-get-an-education-along-the-way type." "Many of the students are athletes, but very few act like a typical jock." Most everyone is "typical looking." Think "sweatpants and a hoodie." However, you will see a smattering of "punks, goths, and theater kids" as well.
