Academy of Art University is one of the few art and design schools that believe in nurturing the whole artist; this includes developing athletic talents along with artistic ones. Students can play like professionals because they are taught by professionals. Students can participate in intercollegiate, intramural and club sports.

Academy of Art University students can pursue Associate of Arts (AA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Master of Arts (MA), and Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degrees in 14 majors, including: Advertising, Animation & Visual Effects, Architecture, Computer Arts & New Media, Digital Arts & Communications, Fashion, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture & Design, Motion Pictures & Television, Multimedia Communications, and Photography. Continuing Art Education and Certificate programs are also available for those wishing to tailor a program to meet their specific goals. Classes can be taken in San Francisco or online.

Academy of Art University believes that all students interested in studying art and design should have the opportunity to do so. Our no-barrier admissions policy makes this possible. Academy of Art University welcomes:

Requirements:
- AA, BFA, BA and portfolio development programs Ãâ" high school diploma or equivalent. No portfolio required. - MFA and MA programs Ãâ" Bachelors degree, submission of portfolio and statement of intent.
Students who do not speak English as their first language must be tested on their written and spoken proficiency in order to place them in the appropriate ESL courses, if necessary. ESL requirements can be completed concurrently with regular art and design coursework. Each of the foundation classes runs sections specifically for ESL students, led by instructors who are experienced in language assistance. Applicants may begin classes at the Academy at the start of the spring, fall, or summer sessions. Undergraduate applicants pay a $100 application fee. School Says - Cost Aid
Academy students have the advantage of a curriculum that offers an unprecedented 14 different majors, a faculty of practicing professional artists and designers who bring their industry success into the classroom, and state-of-the-art facilities.
Tuition is structured to give students the best value and most flexibility during their academic studies. Tuition is calculated on a per unit basis, and lab fees and course fees are assessed per individual class.
Undergraduate Tuition rate is $670 per unit (3 units per class). Graduate Tuition rate is $770 per unit (3 units per class).
For example, starting in the Fall of 2008, a typical undergraduate tuition for an academic year would be $670 for each unit, over 24 units, which is a total yearly tuition of $16,080.
