Students Say - Academics
"Despite its small size, AJU has "the resources of a large university available if you want them." A place where "you are an individual and not a number," students say that at AJU, "you feel like learning is designed for you as an individual." The "student-driven lifestyle both in and out of classrooms" gives the student body "freedom…to create and work with our professors and staff to make our school the best we can make it." Because the student body is so small, "the classes you pick are usually the classes you get to have," and "students have a large voice in the classroom and are encouraged to participate and engage at every opportunity." The teaching staff are described as "very accomplished in their fields," "knowledgeable, conscientious, and fair" and "quite accessible to the students." The education provided by AJU is "truly wonderful," and as one student says, "I've been well educated by this funny little school.""

Students Say - Campus Life
"Located in "the hills of Bel Air," the "beautiful" campus is "a little reminiscent of a mountaintop resort." Many students love the Los Angeles location, noting that "Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Santa Monica and Malibu are all within a close drive." Unfortunately, public transport doesn't reach campus, so students "need a car or bum rides to get around." Some students complain that "dorm life is not as fantastic as it would be at a large school," but others note that "anything that is happening in the dorms at other schools is happening here." As for AJU's observant students, the rules that govern their lifestyle "in no way change the life style at AJU." "The student body is very aware of accommodating Orthodox students," students say, "but the majority of students are not sitting home in the dark on a Friday night." AJU also offers a bonus for any men looking to get married: "If you're looking for a nice Jewish girl," one student reports, "we offer a special degree in MRS.""

Students Say - Student Body
"Described as "a small school with a big heart" and a "sense of community and camaraderie," American Jewish University is not what you may think. "Just because it is American Jewish University does NOT mean that we are all religious, vents one student. "Most students are NOT and non-Jews are very welcomed at our school. We are not all Orthodox and we do not all keep Kosher. It is about the opposite." No matter what your preconceptions, most AJU students say that it's "safe to say that most of the students are not what you would expect." Most students say that their classmates are "friendly and easy to get along with" with "high intellectual ability and potential for high achievement." The small campus is really smallâ€"only around 100 studentsâ€"and the intimate environment is conducive to students really getting to know each other. One student says, "It seems like students know everything about everyone, almost like at a summer camp." No matter what you expect, students guarantee that AJU gives "more than you ask for.""
