LIM College is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a candidate for accreditation by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
The LIM College curriculum stresses both professional and academic preparation, a combination which ensures student success. Students at LIM College receive highly individualized attention as they study the fashion industry. The student body consists of approximately 1400 students. This small size means that students have near-universal access to instructors, staff, and administrators, up to and including the President.
The LIM College curriculum requires students to complete a core set of courses in fashion, business, and the liberal arts, and also emphasizes the importance of hands-on experience through three required internships. This unique approach opens numerous options to graduates, whom the College prepares for work in management, marketing, and merchandising in both the traditional fashion world and fashion-related businesses.
The Center for Career Development is one of LIM College's chief assets. Every student receives extensive career assistance throughout their time at the College, beginning in the first semester. This helps direct students to positions within their field of study. LIM College is extremely proud of its placement record: historically, more than 90 percent of graduates have been employed in their fields of study within six months of graduation, a remarkable feat within the highly competitive fashion industry.
Student housing is currently located at the 1760 Third Avenue Residence on Manhattan's Upper East Side. It's just minutes away from fantastic restaurants and shopping, the remarkable sights and sounds of Museum Mile and Central Park, and two blocks from the subway. 24-hour security and live-in staff ensure students' safety and comfort. Double and triple furnished rooms offer private bathrooms and a flat-screen TV with DVD player transmitting 130 digital cable stations, as well as a refrigerator and microwave. Each student receives free local telephone service with their own voicemail, as well as high-speed Internet service. This state-of-the-art building also features a game room, a fully-equipped 3,500 sq. ft. fitness center, and a computer center.
LIM College welcomes all who are interested to attend its Open House program. This program allows students and their families to tour the College with current students, learn about career opportunities in the fashion industry, explore academic programs and financing options, and meet with faculty and administrators. Visiting students may also sit for a personal interview. LIM also offers many other opportunities to visit, including weekly information sessions and Transfer Nights.
LIM College's student body is diverse, but they have one thing in common: a passion for fashion.

The mission of the Office of Student Life is to provide a supportive social environment and a wealth of cultural opportunities that cultivate personal and academic growth. Club advisors are experienced in their field and can help you connect with key people in the industry. You can meet friends, build a resume, and make the most of your college experience by joining a student club.
Co-curricular organizations include the Student Council, the Fashion Club, the Styling Club, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Fashion Sense magazine and various other clubs formed by students to serve special needs and interests. Students create the annual yearbook (called LIMLIGHT), produce the annual fashion show which hosted over 1000 guests last year, and organize cultural and social activities. Eligible students may be nominated for Sigma Beta Delta, the national honor society. Other activities/organizations include the Explore New York program, the annual ski trip, and the Multicultural Activities Board.
Each year, LIM College students participate in several different volunteer activities including the Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancers and the school Blood Drive.

LIM College students benefit from an amazing location in the heart of New York City. World-famous sights, including St. Patrick's Cathedral, Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art, the Garment District, and Rockefeller Center are all a short walk away from the College.
The fashion universe literally waits just beyond LIM College's front door. New York City is the center of many fashion and fashion-related industries, including cosmetics, textiles, visual merchandising, styling, and fashion publishing. The College's location and prestige guarantee that students will interact with many principals in these areas. Additionally, the curriculum frequently incorporates New York City's vast resources. For example, a student taking LIM's Fashion Magazines course could visit showrooms and magazine offices, meet designers, and enjoy other similar experiences. No other city offers the breadth of experiences and fashion-related opportunities that New York does.
School Says - Admissions
LIM College has a rolling admissions policy. All students are required to submit the LIM College application for admission, an essay, a $40 fee, SAT or ACT scores, two letters of recommendation and official high school transcripts from all high schools attended. After receipt of academic transcripts and test scores some applicants may be asked to complete a personal interview. LIM College strongly suggests all applicants submit an activity sheet or resume.
Transfer students must also submit official transcripts from all colleges attended. The SAT/ACT requirement is waived for transfer students with more than 30 credit hours or who are over 25. International students must also submit TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE scores. To be considered for Early Action Admission, applicants must complete all the application requirements and the Early Action Applicant form by November 15. An Early Action Applicant Form can be obtained from the LIM College website.

School Says - Cost Aid
Tuition for the 2009-2010 academic year is $19,900 and mandatory fees are $525. On average, students spend an additional $1,100 per year on books and supplies. Commuters normally spend $750 to $2,000 for transportation, depending on commuting distance. The LIM College residence hall is comprised of double and triple rooms costing $15,400 and board is approximately $4000 for the academic year. Students should also budget about $2,000 per year for personal expenses.LIM College wants every student it admits to be able to attend the College and works hard to make its education affordable to all. Admissions decisions are made independently of financial aid considerations. Approximately 80% of our undergraduates receive financial assistance in some form: grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study are made available to students who qualify.
Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 to receive priority consideration for financial assistance. Aid in all forms is available on a need basis. Merit scholarships are awarded to those with high academic achievement and other significant talents, regardless of financial need.
LIM College offers merit scholarships to both incoming freshmen and transfer students. The College gives these awards to candidates who demonstrate exceptional academic ability in high school or college.

Students Say - Academics
A "small school, specializing in the business of fashion," students say LIM College provides them "with the knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the fast-paced, business world of fashion, and they do this through industry professionals in the perfect setting: New York City!" Lauded for its "hands-on experience, small classes, job placement, and experienced and knowledgeable teachers," LIM College is "the best place to learn about business and fashion as one." In fact, LIM College is the only college in the U.S. to focus exclusively on business and fashion. Students attribute the "high percentage of students that receive jobs right out of college" to the focus LIM places on its required internship. Some note, "The professors are a hit or miss. You either get really good teachers or people that worked in the industry and have experience but [are] not experienced in teaching." However, others say it's all about finding the gems: "Some professors are amazing and really want you to succeed. They will help you with connections." In terms of the top brass, students note "a slight break in communication between students and the administration because there is no solid system put into place." However, most feel their "academic experience at LIM College has been good with some bumps along the way."
Students Say - Campus Life
With a campus located in the heart of New York City, LIM students say "everything [is] at our disposal." Though the school is a dry campus with a zero tolerance policy, "people generally go out to bars or clubs" if they feel the need to let loose. In general students "love to party and go out and socialize." Though some say that "it is difficult to meet different people because the campus is [in] New York City and there are a lot of commuters," others say that the Manhattan "culture of food, museums, and sights" makes up for any lack of on-campus community. In addition, "LIM does do a great job of having dry campus activities that all students can enjoy." Always on the cutting edge of trends in both the business and design end of the industry, "when a LIM College student takes their studies serious then his [or] her time is consumed with school work, internships and jobs." Saturdays are "usually the only time throughout the week...to breathe and have fun."
Students Say - Student Body
The typical LIM student loves fashion and is "hard-working for the most part." Destined to cut their teeth in the fast-paced world of the New York fashion industry, "They want to succeed in school, work/internships, and in life. They know what they want for their future and go after it." Though largely female, "There are a few guys who make up a small percentage of the student population." Some students lament that the average student is "wealthy and from the tri-state area," which can lead to "cliques." However, others feel that for the most part students at LIM are "artsy, diverse, and accepted by everyone." "Everyone is unique and expresses themselves in different ways."
