Bryn Athyn College is a small, liberal arts college affiliated with the New Church, a form of Christianity that emphasizes treating others with kindness and living a life of useful service. Bryn Athyn combines challenging academic programs with hands-on research and experiential learning.

At Bryn Athyn, students are encouraged to put their academic studies into practice during college-through internships, service learning, research, and study abroad programs, professors mentor students to help them each discover and reach their full potential.

Religious Affiliation
Bryn Athyn College is affiliated with the New Church, a Christian church based on the teaching of the Old and New Testaments and the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, an 18th century scientist and theologian. Swedenborg published extensively about what it means to be Christian, the inner meaning of the Bible, the afterlife, and God. Bryn Athyn College holds a deep respect for the true ideas in all faiths and supports an open discussion about the commonalities between all religions. A Bryn Athyn education strives to open minds and cultivate a sense of purpose in our students, challenging them to think independently and discover their personal goals.

Athletics
At Bryn Athyn, athletic teams compete fiercely in their leagues, while encouraging a positive attitude of teamwork and respect for teammates and opponents. Players of all skill levels are invited to play on Bryn Athyn's teams.

Where there is ample student interest, the Athletic Department works with students to create additional opportunities for students to participate in competitive recreational sports. Basketball, sand volleyball, and indoor soccer are some of the campus' most popular recreational activities.

Student Organizations and Activities
At Bryn Athyn, all students are encouraged to take on leadership positions and become involved in campus activities. Bryn Athyn offers a variety of on-campus activities-recreational, service-oriented, religious, athletic, social, and cultural-and helps students explore additional opportunities in the surrounding area as well. In addition to Bryn Athyn's established campus clubs, students are always welcome to develop new clubs or campus activities with the support of the Social Committee and Student Government.

Clubs and organizations include:
- CARE-organizes community service opportunities on and off campus
- Student Government-represents student interests to the wider campus community
- Social Committee-plans social activities throughout the year
- Outing Club-plans outdoor recreation and adventure
- International Student Organization-supports and celebrates international students
- The Bryn Athyn Beacon-student-run newspaper
- Dance Ensemble-stages three dance concerts throughout the academic year
- Instrumental Ensemble-practices and performs at venues around campus
- College Chorale
- The Never B Flats-women's a cappella group

School Says - Academics
Bryn Athyn's educational philosophy combines a challenging liberal arts education with spiritual purpose infused into the curriculum. All students pursuing degrees through Bryn Athyn complete the Core Program. Through foundational courses, the Core Program develops students' critical thinking, communication, and information literacy skills.

Bryn Athyn's educational program also incorporates concepts from the teachings of the New Church, which emphasizes living a life of useful service and treating others with kindness. A Bryn Athyn education encourages students to think critically and deeply about their values and beliefs and challenging them to apply those ideas to life.

Experiential education is also integrated into Bryn Athyn's curriculum. Through service learning, an extensive internship program, and international opportunities, Bryn Athyn's academic programs are designed to broaden students' skills, knowledge, and worldview by helping them explore what it means to live an engaged and useful life.

School Says - Admissions
Bryn Athyn College takes a holistic approach to evaluating applications. In addition to secondary school transcripts and standardized test scores, the Bryn Athyn College Admissions Committee uses essays and recommendations to determine if applicants are qualified and would be a good fit for the college. Good candidates for admission have solid academic backgrounds, participate in extracurricular activities, and demonstrate the ability and desire to contribute positively to the moral and religious life of the college.

Bryn Athyn College has a rolling admissions policy. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Priority deadlines for admissions are as follows:
Fall entry - Feb. 1
Winter entry - Oct. 1
Spring entry - Jan. 1

A completed application file consists of the following:

- Official secondary school transcript(s)
- SAT and/or ACT scores
- Secondary School Report
- TOFEL or IELTS scores (international students only)
- International Student Certification of Finances (international students only)
- Teacher Recommendation Form (home-schooled students only)
- College transcript(s) (transfer students only)
- College Official's Report (transfer students only)

The College gives advanced standing and academic credit to students whose scores on Advanced Placement (AP) tests meet our criteria or who have participated in the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) Program.

Bryn Athyn College's 130-acre campus is located in beautiful Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, just 14 miles northeast of downtown Philadelphia. Bryn Athyn is a warm and thriving suburban community-and also a national historic landmark district. The community's beautiful outdoor spaces are complemented by state-of-the-art facilities on campus-Mitchell Performing Arts Center, Glencairn Museum, and Bryn Athyn Cathedral-and by convenient shopping within walking distance in Huntingdon Valley. The nearby Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust complements the Bryn Athyn campus with eight miles of public trails and ample opportunities for biological research.

School Says - Cost Aid
The costs for tuition, comprehensive fees, and room and board for the 2010-2011 academic year is $24,080.

- Tuition: Tuition for the 2010-2011 academic year at Bryn Athyn College is $13,188.
- Board and Room: The regular room and board charge for all students living on campus is $8,540 per year.
- Comprehensive Fees: The once-annual comprehensive fee helps meet the cost of classroom supplies, teaching tools, laboratory fees, social activities, athletic supplies, etc. The comprehensive fee at Bryn Athyn College is $2,352 per year.Bryn Athyn College is committed to giving all students interested in pursuing their studies at Bryn Athyn College access to a quality education. Bryn Athyn participates in federal and state aid programs, and the college also offers both merit scholarships and need-based institutional aid. 95% of students who applied for financial aid in 2010-2011 received some assistance (federal, state, institutional, and/or merit).
