Career Services
The Office of Career Services promotes, coordinates, and provides services to assist students with career guidance and job search strategies. The staff provides not only general information and support, but also individual career counseling to assist in exploring and setting career goals. In addition, there are available resources to assist with career selection and employment outlook and trends in occupational fields.
Students looking for internships and jobs, whether full-time, part-time, or summer employment, can find assistance.

Eugene A. Dexter Student Counseling Center
The Dexter Counseling Center provides confidential assistance to students with problems ranging from coping with the transition to college and personal relationships, to academic and vocational help, to issues that require medical assistance. At the center, you can get referrals for other places to get treatment and support.

English as a Second Language Program (ESL)
The ESL program provides non-native English-speaking students an opportunity to improve their English language skills in preparation for successful matriculation in the college program to which they are admitted. The goals of the program are to help students integrate linguistically, academically, and socially into the college community and to assist the student in the successful completion of graduation requirements.

International Student Office
The international student office has been around from the beginning to provide both, necessary immigration information and programs for international students at American International College. It's a valuable resource for international students, and a great place to start getting to know AIC.

Supportive Learning Services Program
The college has been a pioneer in the field of ensuring full participation and equal educational opportunity for students with disabilities. The college is committed to making reasonable academic, social and physical accommodations for students with disabilities at no charge to the student.

For over 25 years, AIC has also served learning-disabled students with Supportive Learning Services Ââ€" one of the country's premier LD support programs. This fee-based program offers and extended range of tutoring and accommodating services to the students who require a different approach.

Center for Academic Success
The newly reorganized Center for Academic Success is home to a wealth of academic support services to serve students of various needs. It includes the Academic Resource Center, devoted to promoting and teaching good study skills and providing academic assistance; the ACE program, a federally-funded program designed to assist in the personal growth and professional development of qualifying first-generation students through tutoring, individual counseling, and engagement in campus activities; the Writing Center, a resource for all students at all levels of writing proficiency where they can seek help with general writing skills or specific papers; and broader developmental education and tutoring programs.

Our Campus
Our campus offers a cozy refuge in the heart of a city. There's always room to play in the quad, to meet with friends, or take a moment between classes. In the spring and fall you can relax in the grass, and in the winter, skate on a temporary ice rink.

Aside from our main campus, we also have an athletic facility that includes a fully equipped gym, a brand new stadium and field for use by several teams year round, and even into the evening thanks to newly installed lights, and a new track installed for use by the growing track team and other students.

Computing on Campus
The college offers several computer labs throughout campus, featuring recently upgraded HP workstations and a communications Mac lab. Computers can go anywhere on campus thanks to a high-speed wireless network accessible from any building, even the dining commons, or the middle of the quad.

The James J. Shea, Sr. Memorial Library AIC's library is an active learning environment that supports undergraduate instruction, graduate research, and independent study. It also houses the Media Center, the Center for Academic Success, Information Technology, the Communication Center, the Oral History Center, and the College Archives.

Computer terminals in the library provide patrons with access to the Internet, as well as 30 databases and the online catalog. Our databases and online catalog are also available on any computer with an Internet connection with a college-issued user ID.

The Schwartz Campus Center
The campus center houses the offices of the Student Government, the radio station, the student newspaper, the yearbook, and Model Congress, along with many others. It's the perfect place to socialize between classes, grab a quick bite, or check in with the student affairs staff.

The Karen Sprague Cultural Arts Center and The Esther B. Griswold Theatre for the Performing Arts
The West Wing is devoted to the visual and literary arts, with studios and galleries, as well as classroom, conference, and seminar facilities. For most of the year, there are rotating art exhibitions open for viewing anytime, at no cost.

The 500-seat Esther B. Griswold Theatre for the Performing Arts has a proscenium stage with flying space and quality acoustics to permit the presentation of professional musical and dramatic productions. This is the place to see a play, a guest speaker, or a student-run fashion show.

School Says - Admissions
The undergraduate admissions process at American International College is personalized. The application is conveniently found within the Undergraduate View Book, which you may receive upon request from the Office of Admissions. Students may also apply on-line. To access the online application, go to www.aic.edu and click on Admissions.

Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, that is, an application is processed upon receipt and a decision is usually made within two to three weeks. Rolling admissions provides both the applicant and the college with a degree of flexibility that eliminates the need to set a specific deadline date for application. However, candidates for admission are encouraged to apply early in the academic year (October, November, December). The admission decision is based on a thorough evaluation of the applicant's academic credentials, standardized test results and letters of recommendation. Acceptance to the college is contingent upon the successful completion of high school or its equivalent. A final transcript documenting graduation is required. Students with academic records satisfactory to American International College are admitted from other colleges in September and January. A transfer student must submit official transcripts of all work undertaken at all institutions attended after high school graduation, whether or not advanced credit is desired. Students transferring from other accredited colleges are not required to take the SAT.

School Says - Campus Life
The American International College campus is located in the geographic center of the city of Springfield, Massachusetts. Springfield is a typical, moderate sized American city of nearly 160,000 people, which is currently transforming itself from a manufacturing to a service center with a global outreach. It is the hub of a metropolitan statistical area of over 500,000 people.
