The University has more than 10,600 students, of whom more than 1,500 are graduate students. Ninety-two percent of students enrolled in graduate programs pursue their studies on a part-time basis.

The University's 20 graduate programs in five colleges include:
- Master of Arts (M.A.) in clinical and counseling psychology, English (concentrations in literature and writing), history, media studies, public policy and international affairs, and sociology (concentrations in crime and justice and diversity studies).
- Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in art (concentrations in fine arts, media arts, and design arts, with studio courses in ceramics, computer art and animation textiles, furniture design, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture).
- Master of Science (M.S.) in biology, biotechnology, communication disorders (speech-language pathology), and exercise and sport studies.
- Master of Music (M.M.) in music (concentrations in jazz studies, music education, and music management).
- Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) (concentrations in accounting, entrepreneurship, finance, general business, marketing, and music management).
- Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) in community-based nursing (tracks in administration, advanced practice, and education).
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) in professional counseling (concentrations in agency and mental health), curriculum and learning (concentrations in bilingual/English as a second language, early childhood, language arts, learning technologies, school library media, social studies, and teaching children mathematics), educational leadership, reading, and special education (specializations in developmental disability and learning disability).
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in elementary education.
The College of Education also offers teacher certification programs for college graduates who wish to obtain initial teaching certification in New Jersey, as well as endorsement programs for certified teachers who wish to obtain additional teaching certification.William Paterson University's more than 38 major buildings include the David and Lorraine Cheng Library, the expanded and renovated University Commons complex, Rec Center, art galleries, Shea Center for Performing Arts, Wightman Memorial Gym, and 1600 Valley Road, which includes interactive classrooms, the Global Financial Services Institute, and the Russ Berrie Institute for Professional Sales with its professional sales laboratory. The University also features other sophisticated laboratories devoted to arts and sciences, acres of property for environmental research, and many specialized facilities such as its radio and TV broadcast studios.

School Says - Campus Life
Set on a 370-acre wooded campus, the University is located in suburban Wayne, New Jersey, within an hour of the ocean, the mountains, the Meadowlands, and New York City.
School Says - Cost Aid
For 2009Ãâ"2010, full-time graduate tuition and fees are $587 per credit (in-state) and $910 per credit (out-of-state). Other fees apply. Tuition and fees are subject to change in accordance with policies established by the Board of Trustees.
On-campus housing is available for single graduate students. Options include suite-style, single, and double accommodations or apartment-style living. On-campus housing costs range from $3,000 to $4,200 per semester, with meal plans available at an additional cost.
The University participates in the Federal Direct Loan Program, which consists of Federal Direct Stafford Student Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized) and the Federal Graduate PLUS program, as well as alternative/private loan programs.
A limited number of graduate assistantships are available each year, which normally carry a stipend of $6,000 and a waiver of tuition and fees
