School Says - Cost Aid
Federal Student Aid
Students in the School of Continuing Studies are registered with Georgetown University's Financial Aid Office and may be eligible for federal tuition assistance. To determine eligibility for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Please note: To be eligible, students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits per semester). Students can complete this form any time after January 1 for the upcoming year; the priority deadline is April 15. Georgetown's Federal Student Aid school code is 001445.
Federal Direct Loan Program
Federal Direct Loan Program loans are government-sponsored low-interest loans available to eligible students directly from the U.S. Department of Education at participating schools. There are two types of Federal Direct Loans: subsidized loans and unsubsidized loans. Interest rates for loans change once a year on July 1. Current loan rates and other helpful information on Stafford Loans can be found on the Federal Student Aid Web site.
The federal government pays the interest accruing on a subsidized loan while the student is enrolled at least half-time. Under the unsubsidized loan program, interest accrual begins at disbursement and may be paid as it accrues or is capitalized. Repayment of principal and interest begins six months after a student's last enrollment on at least a half-time basis.
Federal Pell Grants (Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree candidates only)
Federal Pell Grants are awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to first-degree undergraduate students who are determined to have great financial need. The amount of each individual grant award depends on program funding and the student's eligibility and enrollment status. Students apply for the Federal Pell Grant by completing the Federal Student Aid form.
Because of limited funding and programs' special tuition rates, Georgetown does not offer scholarships to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, Doctor of Liberal Studies, or Master of Professional Studies degree programs.
The School of Continuing Studies also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program for U.S. veterans.
