Students Say - Campus Life
The law students are frequently isolated from the many activities going on throughout the rest of the campus, but within the College of Law, they're very close, and "there is very little division amongst the classes." Most students here believe that having a social life is important, and often gather on weekends and after exam periods in a social context. There "is a student organization for everyone to join," organized social events every Friday night, and during the fall, over half of the student body plays in the "intense" law school flag football league (those who don't play watch). While the population is by no means homogenous (there are a fair number of international students), "there is opportunity in terms of cultural diversity." Amongst the student body, there is "a higher degree of competitiveness to get those few good jobs that are available," but nothing too cutthroat; on the whole, there's a "close sense of community," and people are "generous and helpful to others" and "push each other in class to make appropriate and intelligent comments." Though Syracuse itself isn't the prettiest of cities, and the building for the school itself "is no architectural wonder," the cost of living is cheap, and central New York is "a beautiful area for outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, runners, bikers, skiers, and nature photographers."
