School Says - General Information
Established in 1931, Berkeley College is a coeducational college specializing in business. With seven locations in New York and New Jersey, USA, an online "campus," and students from 29 states and 112 foreign countries, Berkeley is widely recognized for its academic excellence.

Berkeley draws its strength from balancing academic preparation, professional training, and hands-on experience. Since its inception, the College has evolved and expanded to be recognized as a premier educator in preparing men and women for careers in business.

Berkeley's commitment to excellence constitutes the primary objective of the College. Small classes, individualized advisement and counseling, and the development of the student's creative and analytical skills support this commitment. Because Berkeley believes that teaching should encompass both a conceptual and practical perspective, the faculty is selected for both their academic credentials and professional experience.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education accredits Berkeley College, and the New York State Board of Regents authorizes the New York City and Westchester campuses. Academic programs in New York and New Jersey are registered by the New York State Education Department and The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education, respectively. The Paralegal Studies program at all campuses is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA).

School Says - Student Body
Life at Berkeley College is profoundly influenced by the campus location. All Berkeley students have the entire New York metropolitan area as their campus.

Surrounding the midtown Manhattan campus are theaters, museums, merchandising centers, and television studios, which make New York City a classroom for Berkeley students. Students at the Lower Manhattan Extension Center have easy access to Wall Street, South Street Seaport, and Battery Park City where many outdoor concerts are held.

Berkeley students participate in a variety of educational, cultural, and social clubs and activities. For those who are interested, Berkeley offers a number of organizations, clubs, and activities to meet the educational, cultural, and social needs and interests of students. From year to year and location to location, the program of student activities varies according to the interest of each student body. Therefore not every activity, club, or organization listed is available at all locations; some locations offer additional activities. The Student Government Association plans campus activities and events, such as picnics, ski weekends, theater parties, and charity drives. In addition, elected representatives of the Student Government Association meet with the administration on a regular basis and are responsible for communicating the student body's social and academic concerns. Other clubs include the International Club, Accounting Club, International Business Club, Paralegal Club, and the Fashion Club. Honor Societies include Alpha Lambda Sigma, Lambda Epsilon Chi, Phi Theta Kappa, and Sigma Beta Delta.

School Says - Academics
Berkeley offers superior value in higher education with programs that balance traditional education with professional training and hands-on experience. These programs are designed to deliver the knowledge and skills employers are looking for and include workplace experience in the area of the student's interest. The programs are flexible, yet concentrated, supplying an essential foundation for moving to a higher level in a current job or for launching a new career.

Many adult students are striving to balance work and family with college studies while others have not yet found the time to reenter or even begin college. Seven convenient locations in the New York City, Westchester, and New Jersey metropolitan areas provide exceptional convenience and flexibility, as students have the option of combining day, evening, weekend, and online classes at more than one campus. In addition, academic advisors provide professional guidance to adult students who may be able to earn credit for college-level learning acquired through experience.

School Says - Campus Life
There's no better place to experience the energy of the business world than in New York City. Established in 1936, the New York City campus of Berkeley College has more than 2,000 students enrolled in day, evening, weekend, and online courses.

When it comes to culture, New York City is beyond compare. Within easy reach of the College are museums, Broadway theaters, concerts, ballet, opera, libraries, churches, historic sites, and much more. Public transportation quickly brings students to Wall Street, Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown, Little Italy, Central Park, famous Fifth Avenue shops, the United Nations, amusement areas, and world-renowned landmarks. New York's diverse neighborhoods, fine restaurants, clubs, street festivals, and year-round special events add an extra dimension to the college experience.

School Says - Cost Aid
For the 2008-2009 school year, full-time tuition is $18,300. Because the College realizes that educational costs are an important consideration when selecting a college, Berkeley offers protection from tuition increases to students who maintain continuous, full-time enrollment. One of Berkeley's highest priorities is to ensure that sufficient financial aid is available to all eligible students. Financial aid advisors meet with students to develop a personal plan that meets their specific needs. Funds for educational expenses are available in the form of loans, scholarships, grants, and other awards.
