School Says - General Information
Located in the beautiful suburbs north of Buffalo, New York, Daemen College is a private college offering strong liberal arts majors, exceptional professional degrees, and widely acclaimed Graduate programs. Daemen is distinguished by a low student/faculty ratio and consistently small class sizes, which encourage students to interact with professors and grow as individuals. Daemen students have their education enriched by challenging opportunities that engage them in learning experiences through international education programs, collaborative research with faculty, clinical and field experiences, internships for credit, and service learning positions. Daemen students embrace an academically challenging atmosphere where they are encouraged to develop a strong repertoire of knowledge and skills. A recent survey of Daemen students conducted as part of the nationally prominent National Survey of Student Engagement concluded that Daemen students find the institutionÂ's intellectual and creative work challenging. Daemen College meets the individual goals and needs of each student, preparing them for leadership and professional life in a global economy.

School Says - Student Body
Student activities provide for the development of the whole person outside of the classroom. The Student Activities director on campus helps students participate in recognized organizations, form new ones, and plan events. All students are encouraged to join in extracurricular activities. With over 50 student organizations the possibilities for involvement at Daemen are limitless. Whether your interests are in art or skiing, there is bound to be something that grabs your interest and introduces you to students who share similar passions. Daemen knows that thereÂ's more to being a student than just sitting in a classroom or studying at the library. Daemen believes that now is the time to discover exactly who you are; cultivating your hidden talents, taking new risks and challenging yourself to grow are all part of the Daemen experience. Daemen encourages all of their students to become actively engaged in the campus community. Daemen athletic teams have won six American Mideast Conference North titles in the past three years. Daemen offers 5 varsity sports (4 menÂ's: basketball, cross country, soccer, golf; 4 womenÂ's: basketball, cross country, volleyball, soccer), Club sports: cheerleading, indoor soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, rugby and ice hockey. More casual athletes take part in intramural sports and keep fit in the exercise and weight rooms. Our student athletes work hard to achieve success on the field and in the classroom.

School Says - Academics
Daemen College is committed to complimenting the depth of study in a major field with a well-rounded academic understanding in the liberal arts. The College's new core curriculum ensures that every student graduates with the following seven core competencies: critical thinking and creative problem solving; oral, written and visual communication; information and multi-media technologies; civic responsibility; contextual understanding; affective judgment; and moral and ethical discernment. This innovative core curriculum competes with those of Ivy League Institutions and prepares the student in a holistic manner which not only makes them more marketable upon graduation, but instructs them on alternative ways of approaching education and learning. Classes at Daemen are taught by professors - not teaching assistants. Daemen provides students with small classes and a caring and committed faculty, allowing for a personalized educational experience. Academics at Daemen will challenge you to test your knowledge, raise your expectations, and think critically and creatively. DaemenÂ's core competencies, honors program, academic exchanges, global programs, and undergraduate research are just a few examples of what makes the College challenging and distinctive. Daemen students are well prepared for professional success. The vast majority of them obtain a position of choice or admission to Graduate study in less than a year after graduation. They are leaders in their communities, with a strong dedication to the improvement of the communities in which they live. Daemen graduates are informed citizens, prepared to play productive roles in local and global communities both as effective participants and leaders. They make reasoned ethical choices and consider connections between values and behavior. They can effectively access, evaluate, and apply relevant and valid information using a variety of information resources. They have the writing and speaking skills necessary for effective communication. Daemen College graduates are well prepared to pursue advanced study in graduate or professional school.

School Says - Admissions
The Admissions committee weighs each studentÂ's over all academic record, the extracurricular profile, the High School counselor recommendation and the standardized test score. Students admitted last year had an average GPA of 90%. We consider this along with the academic rigor over the past four years in high school to be the single best predicator of academic success. We encourage an on campus interview and any other information a prospective student wishes to provide. Daemen has a rolling admissions policy. However, due to program and residence-hall capacity limits, we highly encourage you to send your deposit before May 1 to secure your spot. The best way to get to know Daemen is in person. On your visit, weÂ'll take you on a campus tour, arrange for you to meet professors and current students, and plan a one-on-one meeting with an Admissions Counselor. To schedule your appointment, contact the Office of Admissions at 800-462-7652 or register inline at www.daemen.edu/admissions. You may make an individual visit anytime, attend our Fall and Spring Open Houses, or join us for many of our other special admissions events. We hope to see you on campus soon!

School Says - Campus Life
Daemen's beautiful 39-acre campus is located in Amherst, New York, a safe, peaceful suburb of Buffalo. Money Magazine has reported Amherst, New York as one of America's safest cities. Due to its proximity to Buffalo (New York State's second largest city) Daemen's campus is close to many major rail, plane, and motor routes. While the campus setting is tranquil and residential, Buffalo is a vibrant cultural city, bustling with world-class entertainment, such as the Philharmonic Orchestra, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Studio Arena Theater. The greater Buffalo area is rich with sports and recreational activities all year round, whether it be skiing and swimming, or watching our professional sports teams. The surrounding Niagara Frontier boasts numerous historic and scenic locations. For example, Niagara Falls is only 30 minutes away and the attractive, international city of Toronto is just two hours by car. On campus, the numerous trees and open green spaces create a lovely environment to work and study, and compliment the nearby urban environment.

School Says - Cost Aid
Tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year is $18,750, with additional room and board fees of $8,610. (varies according to meal plan and residence facility)Learning to navigate the financial aid system can be a daunting task. ThatÂ's why Daemen has trained professionals on hand to assist you every step of the way. Their Admissions Staff and Financial Aid Officers are available to assist you and your family with the financial aid application process, and to ensure that you understand the necessary paperwork and deadlines required in order for you to receive the best financial aid package available. Daemen College believes that every eligible student should have the opportunity to pursue a college education, regardless of their financial situation. With this philosophy in mind, Daemen College offers merit-based and need-based financial assistance, as well as aid based on a combination of financial need and academic achievement. More than 90% of current Daemen students receive some form of financial assistance through the New York State Tuition Assistance Program, the College's scholarships and grants, work-study awards, or loans. In addition to the College's own scholarships, Daemen College participates in all federal and state programs.
