Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, founded in 1928, offers an art and design education to a select group of students who are serious about refining their talent and seek in-depth preparation for significant careers. The faculty consists of working artists, designers and scholars dedicated to providing students with the necessary tools to explore and pursue their own creative journey. Faculty members continually weigh changing methods and technology, striving to provide students with meaningful, real world experiences while maintaining a solid and proven art and design education. Kendall provides a personalized approach to education that not only helps students learn the principles of visual thinking but also provides the skills necessary to achieve career success. Kendall offers a BFA degrees in Art Education, Digital Media (with concentrations in 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Illustration, Interactive Design and Motion Graphic Design), Fine Art (with concentrations in Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture/Functional Art), Furniture Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Metals/Jewelry Design, Painting, Photography, and Sculpture/Functional Art. A BS degree is offered in Art History. Kendall also offers a MFA degree with concentrations in Drawing, Painting, Photography and Printmaking. The College's individual programs are based on a strong foundation program that includes intense classical training while also allowing freedom and variety. A wide range of special lectures, exhibits, and seminars by noted artists and designers enhance the academic environment.

An incoming freshman student is required to submit/complete the following: 1) Completed admissions application form. 2) Submit $30 application fee. 3) Have official high school transcripts released to Kendall. 4) Release official ACT or SAT test scores to Kendall (ACT or SAT tests are required). 5) Have official college transcripts released to Kendall if any college credits earned. 6) Statement of Purpose. 7) Present and complete a portfolio review (not required if majoring in Art History (Academic Focus), Interior Design or Furniture Design. Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA on-line. An electronic signature (PIN number) makes the process even faster and more convenient. WHEN TO APPLY Students applying for financial aid at Kendall/Ferris will receive priority consideration if all forms are received by March 1st for the following school year. All files completed after that date will be considered for financial aid based on availability of funds.
