Mark Nowlan is Entrepreneur.com's "PR" columnist and senior vice president of marketing & communications at PR Newswire, the global leader in news and information distribution services for organizations around the world. Nowlan has been with PR Newswire for 10 years and has held positions including VP of marketing, Americas; vice president, Midwest Region; and head of PR Newswire's Detroit bureau.
A sole practitioner before joining PR Newswire, Nowlan provided strategic planning and communications consulting to major telecommunications and forest products companies, and conducted significant benchmark research on the disciplines.
Formerly, Nowlan was senior vice president of a Philadelphia-based public affairs agency specializing in strategic planning, stakeholder research and communication program evaluation for Fortune 500 companies. He also held the position of VP technology, creating some of the first relationship management software systems for communicators.
Nowlan is a frequent lecturer on media relations, strategic communications and crisis communications at industry conferences around the country. He is an amateur photographer who, when not in New York City, prefers being in waist-deep water, fly-fishing rod in hand, and practicing his overhand cast.
