As a mother of a young son in the early 1990s, Shell Herman was concerned that many schools were cutting budgets for the arts. She also was aware there were no national art enrichment programs available for children. So in 1993, Shell developed the concept that became KidzArt.
Today KidzArt is a drawing-based fine arts program, offering classes, programs, workshops, and a variety of creativity-oriented educational programs. Students range in age from 3-1/2 to 65+.
