Kaiser Permanente of Oakland is the latest in a string of companies to reach a settlement in a dispute over patents for call center technology with Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing LP of Los Angeles.
The patent holding company announced Friday that the litigation between itself and Kaiser had been dismissed and that that Kaiser is receiving a nonexclusive license under a portfolio of patents for its use of the technology, which is related to automated telephone systems allowing patients to obtain prescriptions and other services by telephone.
A look at the federal court docket also shows Katz Technology Licensing has filed dozens of patent suits against companies and that the company has also announced settlements with many, among them Continental Airlines Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Citigroup Inc. and Ford Motor Co.
