Red Robin buying 11 franchised restaurants

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. will pay $20.9 million to buy 11 franchised restaurants in Wisconsin and Minnesota, the company disclosed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday.

The Greenwood Village company (NASDAQ: RRGB) said it reached a deal through subsidiary company Red Robin International Inc. on April 15 to buy the restaurants. The sellers are Dane County Robins Inc., Minnesota Robins Inc. and Hennepin County Robins Inc.

The company said it expected to close on the purchase early in the second quarter.

Red Robin also disclosed it purchased the outstanding stock of an affiliate of the sellers, North Central Wisconsin Robins Inc., for $247,000 in cash and the assumption of $859,878 in debt. North Central owns one franchised restaurant that is under construction and is expected to open in May.
