Echelon's president, COO dies

Networking company Echelon Corp. said Monday that Beatrice Yormark, its president and chief operating officer, died over the weekend from complications related to a cerebral hemorrhage.

San Jose-based Echelon (NASDAQ:ELON) said 63-year-old Yormark had been with the company 18 years. She was remembered as a "brilliant strategist, an inspirational leader, a tough negotiator, and a caring friend."

Ecehlon said Yormark "was one of those rare people who made everyone around her better by inspiring them to find more in themselves than they knew was possible."

Yormark joined Echelon in 1990. Before joining Echelon she was the chief operating officer of Connect Inc., an online information services company. She also served on the board of Hackensack N.J.-based I.D. Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:IDSY)

Echelon stock dropped about 3 percent to $10.64 a share on Monday.
