Republican Pat McCrory and Democrat Bev Perdue would be the nominees of their respective parties if readers of The Business Journal's Web site had their way.
In an informal online poll conducted during the past week, McCrory leads all the candidates with 33 percent of the votes. Perdue is second - and first among the Democrrats -- with 21 percent of the votes.
On the G.O.P. side, Fred Smith trails McCrory with 16 percent of the votes, followed by Bill Graham and Robert F. Orr, both with 3 percent.

Among Democrats, the race is essentially a photo-finish. While Perdue leads with 21 percent, Richard H. Moore has 20 percent of the online votes.
The real vote comes tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6.
