Sea Star Line LLC has placed an unspecified number of employees on administrative leave for violating company policies, the company announced Wednesday.

The internal infractions are related to a Justice Department investigation into allegations of antitrust violations.

A media liaison said the company declined to provide details such as how many people were put on leave or what jobs they held.

Sea Star said it has cooperated with the Justice Department's investigation and will continue to do so, President and Chief Operating Officer Frank Peake said in a written statement.

Peake said the company doesn't expect any disruption in service or degradation in customer satisfaction. "Sea Star is committed to transparency in this matter and values the goodwill of our employees, our customers and our partners," he said.

Sea Star Line LLC, based in Jacksonville, carries cargo between the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
