Bryant Bank to open Hoover branch

Bryant Bank plans to establish a new branch in Hoover, its seventh Birmingham-area location.

The Tuscaloosa-based bank filed an application with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Alabama State Banking Department to build a branch at 2721 John Hawkins Parkway, according to public documents.

Within the past year, Bryant Bank's assets skyrocketed to $431 million with 105 employees, compared to $180 million and 48 employees during the same period the year before, according to the FDIC.

Bryant Bank is a Tuscaloosa-based bank run by Paul Bryant Jr.,the son of late University of Alabama football coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.
