Builder: Bass Pro Shops construction on track for November opening

Construction of the new 150,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Leeds is on track to open in November, said the project's construction manager.

According to the company building the store, Vratsinas Construction Co., good weather and contractors pulling together have helped keep the project on track, said a news release.

So far, the following have been completed or are ongoing:

  • Completion of tilt panel erection and tilt framing has begun.
  • Steel erection is about 85 percent complete and electrical, plumbing and HVAC are in progress.
  • Roofing insulation is underway, concrete slabs have been poured and the 18,500-gallon aquarium is under construction.
  • Light poles have been erected and work has begun on the parking lot, with paving planned to begin in about three weeks.
  • Construction of a lake has begun and should take three months to complete.

Once finished, the 110-acre project will include a 35-acre nature park. The store will feature a fire archery range, a general store, a fudge shop, a fly fishing department and an 11,000-square-foot boat showroom, as well as a laser arcade for kids.

According to the release, Vratsinas Construction has built Bass Pro Shops recently opened in Miami, San Antonio, Texas, and Denham Springs, La.
