Warren Averett Kimbrough & Marino LLC is beefing up its banking practice by acquiring Birmingham's Schauer Taylor P.C.

Douglass B Schauer, W. Earnest Cox and Alan E. Kilofoyle, all financial service accounting veterans employed with the firm, will join Warren Averett by June 1.

Schauer served as the managing partner of Schauer Taylor, the accounting firm he started in 1986. He will continue to focus his practice in the areas of tax and audit for financial institutions, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Reserve reporting, and bank consulting.

Cox, who brings 29 years of experience to the company, also developed a strong expertise serving a variety of financial institutions. He plans to concentrate on SEC reporting, banking and corporate taxation.

Kilfoyle joins Warren Averett with 17 years of experience in public accounting and banking, with experience in leading banking audits.

Warren Averett is the largest Birmingham-based accounting firm with offices in Birmingham, Cullman and Anniston. The company services a number of public and privately held corporations, including manufacturers, hospitals and medical professionals throughout Alabama and the Southeast.
