High Point Regional Health System has joined The HealthCare Alliance, a corporation formed in February by Moses Cone Health System and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
The alliance aims to share information among hospitals and provide a legal framework to keep costs down by buying supplies in volume.
"Our goal in joining the alliance is to strengthen the working relationship with our neighboring providers, improve quality and explore opportunities to reduce costs," said Jeff Miller, CEO of High Point Regional. "By participating in the clinical, education and research programs that Moses Cone and Wake Forest Baptist offer, we will enhance our services to patients, our physicians and employees."

The three hospitals maintain their separate governing boards and full authority over the operations of their organizations.
The alliance now includes hospitals from the three largest cities in the Triad. Moses Cone, a five-hospital system based in Greensboro, has 1,076 acute-care beds. Baptist, based in Winston-Salem, has 1,154 beds. High Point Regional has 400 acute-care beds.
