The Jacksonville Business Journal has named veteran journalist John Burr as editor.
Burr has covered Northeast Florida as a reporter and editor for 20 years, most recently as assistant managing editor of The Florida Times-Union, the region's largest daily newspaper. He will join The Business Journal on June 9.
"I am confident John's news judgment, market knowledge, project planning skills and leadership experience will prove invaluable as we continue to grow our paid circulation, online reach and market share through our top quality news products and publications," Jacksonville Business Journal Publisher David Sillick said.

Burr began his journalism career as a general assignment reporter at The York County Coast Star in Kennebunk, Maine in 1979. He worked at The Bristol Press in Bristol, Conn., as a reporter for several years and then at the St. Petersburg Times before joining The Times-Union in June 1988 as Sunday editor, general assignment reporter.
Burr has held several positions at The Times-Union, including community news editor, metro editor and business editor. He has been assistant managing editor since July 2000.
Burr replaces Jim Molis, who is leaving The Business Journal after four years as editor to begin a public relations company.
