Unemployment in the Triangle was 4.1 percent in April, new state data show.

The Employment Security Commission of North Carolina says that, unadjusted for seasonal effects, joblessness rose 0.6 percentage points in the last year. Local unemployment was 3.5 percent in April 2007.

There were 816,974 people with jobs in the region, the ESC says. A year earlier, that figure was 814,101.

Unadjusted for seasonal effects, joblessness was unchanged from a month ago, when it was also 4.1 percent.

The Triangle's job market remains healthier than both the state's as a whole. Unadjusted unemployment was 5.1 percent across North Carolina in April.
