BE&K Inc. and a joint venture partner were awarded the contract to build a new $500 million plant for DuPont near Charleston, S.C.

According to a news release, BE&K and Aker Solutions, working as JBEK, will serve as the engineering, procurement and construction company to build DuPont's new Kevlar fiber plant at its Cooper River site.

The new plant will create 100 new jobs and be part of an expansion of an existing DuPont facility, which currently produces thermoplastic polyester elastomer, primarily used in the auto industry, according to DuPont's Web site.

Aker Solutions is a provider of engineering and construction services and technology products. The joint venture has worked with DuPont on numerous projects in the past 14 years.
