Plastech Engineered Products will close the doors of its Franklin facility starting Aug. 10 resulting in the loss of 220 jobs, according to a letter from the company to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce.

Earlier this year the company -- which primarily manufactures blow-molded and injection-molded plastic products for the automotive industry -- filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Plastech was founded in 1988 and has nearly 30 manufacturing facilities nationwide. The company's products include components for Ford and General Motors SUVs and light trucks.
