The 52-employee Kupper will retain its name and continue to operate out of New Jersey, said Daniel Cheng, executive vice president of JMT, in an interview Wednesday.

JMT has 710 employees across the company. In addition to Maryland, the firm has staff in Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Employees from both firms will not be affected by the acquisition, Cheng said.

JMT is the third-largest engineering firm in Greater Baltimore when ranked by annual billings, according to Business Journal research. The firm reported local billings of $56 million and $82 million companywide in 2007.
