Churchill to debut world's largest mint julep
Louisville already boasts the world's largest baseball bat and glove, but this year, add another record to the books. This weekend, Churchill Downs will display the world's largest mint julep.
A 6-foot-tall acrylic glass filled with Early Times Mint Julep will be located in the paddock area on Friday and Saturday, according to a news release. The straw will act as a pouring mechanism to dispense about 206 gallons of the cocktail, which should equal about 5,000 servings.
Churchill Downs commissioned The Weber Group of New Albany, Ind., to manufacture the glass, the release said. The cost was not disclosed.
