Cingular Wireless has furthered its commitment to Missouri by unveiling a next-generation network that provides the latest advances in wireless technology, offering phones with greater functionality and unique features, superior sound quality and high-speed data connectivity.
"Cingular is redefining the wireless experience today for our Missouri customers with a new level of wireless technology," said Nancy Garvey, vice president and general manager of Cingular's Missouri and Kansas operations. "From analog to digital to today's advanced GSM network, Cingular works hard to keep Missouri connected via the latest wireless phones, features, coverage and plans."
GSM, or Global System for Mobile Communications, is the world standard for wireless communications. More than 880 million people in 179 countries use this technology which delivers a superior network, the widest selection of phones, and advanced data applications, such as faster downloads on games, instant messaging and picture messaging.
Twelve new GSM phones available now come in an assortment of colors, shapes and sizes to complement Cingular's innovative plans and services that "Fit You Best." GSM phones also incorporate everyday conveniences, such as built-in cameras, radios and MP-3 players. Additionally, all GSM phones contain SmartChip technology, which lets customers transfer personal profiles and calling information from phone to phone, so there's no need to reprogram phone contacts lists when changing Cingular GSM phones. Simply take the card out of one Cingular phone and slide it into another Cingular GSM phone.
In addition to the variety of new handsets available to Missouri customers, Cingular is offering an assortment of compelling new rate plans, featuring increased minutes, expanded calling areas and Rollover, Cingular's exclusive program that allows unused anytime minutes from one month to roll over to the next for up to one year.
"The GSM upgrade is part of our on-going commitment to deliver the best technology, products and performance to our customers," Garvey said. "Cingular invested more than $95 million last year in Missouri deploying advanced technology and improving and expanding our network. We expect to invest more than $140 million this year. And our 300-plus employees in the "Show Me" State are committed to providing customers with the quality service they have come to expect."
