SimSci-Esscor, Lake Forest, Calif., an operating unit of Invensys
plc, has signed a 5-year agreement with Innotec GmbH, a software
development firm specializing in process-oriented plant construction,
operation and maintenance. The organizations are working together
developing, enhancing, marketing and supporting iFEED, a suite of fully
integrated front-end engineering and design tools for the oil and gas
industries.
The new suite of products feature Innotec's industry-leading
Comos front-end engineering design (FEED) solution and PRO/II,
SimSci-Esscor's process simulation software. iFEED is marketed to
the hydrocarbon processing industry to support collaborative engineering
and increase front-end engineering productivity.
Comos FEED is an engineering data and document-centric database
management system designed to integrate process simulation data through
PRO/II during scope and conceptual development as well as preliminary
engineering phases of a project. The system provides multi-discipline
engineers with a controlled, distributed and collaborative environment
to manipulate or augment simulation data and provide non-simulation data
for defining process flow and equipment specifications.
The strategic relationship with Innotec enables SimSci-Esscor to
significantly increase market opportunities for its simulation software,
according to Kenneth Brown, vice president and general manager of
SimSci-Esscor. The relationship expands applications for PRO/II
simulation data by integrating the process simulation software with
Comos FEED. Engineers can now use simulation data to make
better-informed engineering decisions.
"SimSci-Esscor looks forward to working closely with Innotec
to provide the process industry with state-of-the-art, fully integrated
process engineering tools," Brown said. "We believe that
Innotec's Comos FEED solution is one of the most feature-rich,
technically advanced tools on the market today. Through the seamless
integration with PRO/II we believe the combination can be one of the
industry's most powerful front-end engineering and design
tools."
SimSci-Esscor and its affiliates may use the Comos software
solution for internal purposes and to market, promote and directly
distribute units through its normal worldwide distribution channels.
Innotec and SimSci-Esscor will continue upgrading Comos FEED features as
well as develop additional front-end engineering and design tools for
the iFEED suite of products. Both companies also will provide technical
and customer support for products within the new iFEED suite.
"Innotec is pleased to be able to partner with a process
simulation industry leader like SimSci-Esscor," said Stephan
Rohleder, chief executive officer of Innotec. "Seamlessly
integrating our companies two products is an important step in providing
the next-generation of solutions that can dramatically improve the
productivity of process engineers and enhance their ability to
collaborate on all front-end engineering activities."
