BEIJING TELECOM DEPLOYS CSG KENAN/BP BILLING/DATA MEDIATION.

Worldwide Telecom • March 1, 2004 •

Global billing and customer care solutions provider CSG Systems (NASDAQ:CSGS) and IBM has announced that Beijing Telecom has successfully deployed the CSG Kenan/BP billing platform and CSG(R) Data Mediation solution to support the voice and data transactions for all of its subscribers. IBM & CSG completed the first phase of the billing platform implementation in 18 weeks.

Beijing Telecom is the fixed line, advanced IP, high-speed Internet and Leased Line services provider operating under China Telecom, China's largest telecommunications service provider. CSG's billing and network data mediation solutions will support Beijing Telecom's efforts to enhance customer care, increase profitability and gain greater control over when and how they launch new services or introduce new business models.

IBM and CSG Systems teamed up to implement Kenan/BP and CSG Data Mediation on the IBM AIX platform, IBM's UNIX(R) operating system, that is designed to support e-business and Internet applications with enhanced security, workload management, system management and Java(TM) software scalability. This compatibility with AIX gives telecommunications service providers worldwide more hardware and operating system choices for running CSG solutions in both outsourced and licensed formats.

CSG recently ported its Kenan/BP and mediation products to the IBM AIX platform and Beijing Telecom is the first customer using the hardware and software combination. IBM is the System Integrator for the billing platform, providing hardware, project management implementation and consulting services, as well as middleware integration with the CRM and payments systems.

"We are very proud of the quick and successful deployment of CSG's billing & network data mediation solutions at Beijing Telecom," said Bill Fisher, president of CSG Systems' Global Software and Services Division. "The flexibility and scalability of the solution will position Beijing Telecom to handle transactions for its current customer base and to support the tremendous growth opportunities within the Chinese market."

"The seamless cooperation among Beijing Telecom, CSG and IBM ensured the speedy completion of a demanding implementation which involved integrating CSG's new billing platform within Beijing Telecom's legacy system. In addition, as part of the nationwide China Telecom Group, we ensured that Beijing Telecom is able to offer a wide range of services to residential and business customers who may have branches all over China," said Nick Gurney, IBM Telecommunications Executive, IBM Communication Sector, Asia Pacific.

China represents one of the fast-growing segments of the global telecommunications marketplace, with operators spending nearly $155 billion (U.S.) in fixed and wireless capital investments in the last five years, according to industry research firm Pyramid Group. Pyramid estimates that China's telecommunications industry is set to become one of the world's top three markets based on revenue in the next few years.
