CityTel has selected Sandvine Peer-To-Peer (P2P) Policy Management
to minimize the impact of file sharing traffic on its broadband network.
The rapid growth of peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing applications
like KaZaA and eDonkey had challenged the 3,000-subscriber ISP's
ability to control and optimize Internet traffic. P2P can account for
more than 70% of residential traffic. Having evaluated a variety of
solutions that proved less than effective in reducing the overall impact
of P2P, CityTel has elected to deploy Sandvine's award-winning
policy management technology as a means of reducing network congestion
and improving quality of service.
"Sandvine's intelligent re-direction approach allows us
to minimize the impact of P2P traffic on our network and maintain the
best possible online experience for our subscribers," said Greg
Nancekivell, Internet Manager for CityTel. "P2P Policy Management
will help us maximize our existing infrastructure investments while
preparing us to stay ahead of changes in this rapidly-evolving
technology environment."
