ENGINEERING.com Incorporated [TSXV: EGN], Toronto, Ont., developer
and owner of the ENGINEERING.com online resource and business for
engineers, has announced that its recent "OnDemand Productivity
Services" offering has attracted more than 50 companies as
customers since it was first offered in November.
"These services enable us to help engineers leverage the
leading design technologies using the Internet as a productivity tool to
enhance their day-to-day work," said John Hayes, COO of
ENGINEERING.com. "This service is extremely cost effective, user
friendly and completely adaptable to the way that engineers work every
day."
John Cajumas is an experienced Pro/ENGINEER designer with DC
Fabricators Inc., a product design firm based in Florence, New Jersey:
"I'm the only experienced Pro-E user here so there's
nobody who I can talk to regarding Pro-E issues. I typically use
OnDemand to resolve tricky modeling problems or software installation
glitches. The new WEBEX function that allows the OnDemand Tech to see
what's happening on your screen is really slick. There are some
modeling issues that are just too complex to convey by words. A picture
really is worth a thousand words."
These exclusive OnDemand offerings are the result of a partnership
pairing the Internet reach and hosting expertise of ENGINEERING.com with
the CAD analysis and support skills of RAND Worldwide [TSX: RND]. The
initial offering includes four core services, all designed to deliver
the expert advice and training necessary to maximize an engineering
team's productivity:
1. OnDemand Solving: Registered users can access a secure URL where
they can upload their working AutoCAD, CATIA, Pro/ENGINEER or Inventor
CAD models for review by technical experts from RAND Worldwide who can
either suggest solutions to problems or they can use sophisticated
repair tools and techniques to "fix" the model itself.
2. OnDemand Expert Advice: ENGINEERING.com can set up a "hands
on" problem solving conference session, using the Internet, and
bringing together the user's engineering team - even if they are
dispersed amongst different locations - with OnDemand's technical
experts. By making it easy to focus all of this "brain power"
on a particular problem without incurring either excessive time or
travel expenses, ENGINEERING.com is again using the Internet to drive
improved engineering productivity.
3. OnDemand Learning provides users with ready access to an
extensive array of structured technical education programs designed to
meet the individual needs - and skill levels - of each user. These
offerings include interactive, expert-led live learning over the web as
well as "WebShops", Internet-based learning platforms that
allow users to move at their own pace and at the time they choose to
address specific skill gaps.
4. OnDemand Core Tools: Each subscription to OnDemand Productivity
Services includes FAQ's, e-mail responses to registered users'
questions, discussion forums for multiple CAD platforms and 24x7 access
to the ROCK, an online collaborative knowledge base.
Rob Heller, another experienced designer, works in Norco,
California at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, which provides design
and analysis support for the U.S. Navy. He recently contacted the
OnDemand team for assistance with a stress analysis problem on a product
using Pro/MECHANICA: "This OnDemand service has been very helpful
in allowing me to perform difficult tasks that I am not able to resolve.
The personnel at RAND Worldwide are very knowledgeable, patient and
personable and always provide the solutions that I am seeking."
