NEON/DATAFLUX PROVIDE ENHANCED MAINFRAME DATA MANAGEMENT.

Mainframe Computing • April 1, 2004 •

NEON(R) Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NEON), a leader in enterprise- class mainframe integration, has signed a new technology partnership with DataFlux Corporation, a leading provider of data management solutions that increase the consistency, accuracy and reliability of enterprise data assets. Under this partnership, DataFlux will have the right to distribute NEON's Shadow mainframe integration technology software as part of its data management solutions, allowing DataFlux customers to inspect, correct, integrate and enhance data available within mainframe platforms.

Due to the complexity of connecting to mainframe systems, most data management or data quality vendors must export or extract mainframe data before implementing data inspection, cleansing or standardization routines. This partnership helps DataFlux customers use NEON's Shadow technology to streamline access to these platforms and takes the data management process to companies reliant on mainframe technology.

"Shadow's innovative architecture greatly reduces the complexity of mainframe integration," said Mark Cresswell, president and COO of NEON Systems. "With Shadow, we are able to rapidly convert proprietary mainframe data schemas into easy-to-consume standard metadata. The combined solution of NEON and DataFlux technologies enables organizations to more cost-effectively and accurately exploit mainframe data from within CRM and ERP packaged applications or data warehousing projects."

"DataFlux technology is designed to provide cutting-edge data management technology that improves the consistency, accuracy and reliability of any corporate data asset," said Tony Fisher, president and general manager of DataFlux. "With Shadow technology from NEON, we can access a wide variety of mainframe applications quickly and easily -- and give business users the opportunity to use and improve data on these mission-critical systems."

For many industries, mainframe technology is still the preferred mission critical platform. NEON's Shadow technology and DataFlux will provide a comprehensive data management solution for customers with Adabas, DB2, IMS/DB and VSAM mainframe databases.

With superior performance, security and the capabilities for managing multiple workloads, mainframe technology is widely deployed within the federal government and federal agencies, state/local government, research facilities, universities, as well as financial services, banking, insurance, manufacturing, and transportation.
